Hello,
I've followed the steps. Studio5000 V31 is fine and activated. I've installed V32 next but it seems activation is gone.
Did you activate the software while installation or skip it?
Anyway strange thing is that V32 is starting in trial mode but ABOUT window shows it's V31 version...
I've Win7 64bit clean installation done from scratch so no other software may influence RS Logix. Do you have any idea what's missing?

run as administrator and restart services..
| Code: | 1. install, use 2022007546 as serial number
2. stop FTA service (or you won't be able to replace files in step 3.)
- open Task Manager (right-click on TaskBar and "Start TaskManager")
- in Services tab locate "FactoryTalk Activation Service" right-click and "Stop Service"
3. replace existing files with provided ones (on a 32bit system the paths are "C:\Program Files\.")
- "flexsvr.exe" in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockwell Software\FactoryTalk Activation"
- "FTACommon.dll" in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Rockwell"
4. copy the license "ftasystem.lic" in "C:\Users\Public Documents\Rockwell Automation\Activations"
5. start FTA service, as in step 2. but select "Start Service" instead or just reboot
*you can play with whatever license files you want, i included one i found elsewhere but feel free to use whatever you want/find
**was only tested it on Win7x64 but should be fine on others, if anything give your feedback |

Thanks but think I've followed all steps like that except serial number - installator is not asking about it. Only question to activate or not comes at the end. There I need serial number, product number whatever that is and something else. I'm on V31 activated now.
What should I start as administrator? What do you mean?

Hello Sebssy Torak,
I've run V31 installer as administrator but I cannot see question about serial number...
At the end of installation option to activate or skip activation pops up:
- Activate your software by Easy Active
- Skip activation
I have version V31.00.01_CPR9_SR10. Perhaps this one is not right? Which did you use?
Now I can skip activation to finish installation and activate V31 with patch.
This works fine but upgrade to V32 don't..
Do you have any suggestions? Thank you... |

I don't know what wrong with your installation but they're working.
You should have a fresh installation again following the above instructions.
I saw on youtube, have instruction video with a title: PLCGurus.NET - How To Create A Studio 5000 Logix Emulate Project, you can test after you have installed successfully RSLogix_Studio5000_V32.00.00 and RSLogix Studio Emulate v32.

Hi, I don't know neither. I have created virtual machine with fresh Win7 installation, start with Logix5000 V31, patched it and follow with V32 installator. All is done from scratch, no other installations etc.. Ok, maybe it's virtual box problem..
Thank you anyway, I will try again. If I can find solution I will post it here for other people.
One more question: when during installation can you see serial number request?

I don't remember correctly. I think I didn't see the serial because I followed the patch_31.zip file.
The operating system that I used to install is Windows10. |

So I've partially managed to make Logix5000 v32 working with emulator. All work fine, go online etc.
Here's what I did:
- install Logix5000 V31
- install patch for V31
- install Logix5000 V32 but activation was gone after this step
- install patch for V31 again (I had to close Factory Talk Activation not only stop the service this time).
- install Emulate V32
- Done.
I've also disabled FTA on startup afterwards as "ActivationNotifier has stopped working" fault kept coming each Windows restart.
Generally it seems I've screwed up something with activation check but so long it works I don't care.
Try the same if the simple way is not working for you.

| What file do you mean? After installation you have to use patch to have a valid license. Patch contains 3 files that have to replace existing ones. |

I think I got it with the licenses, I already saw the files and the installing instructions.
Now I'm having issues with the installation, Installer can't read the Compiled_Released_Notes.pdf file and can't move forward, the wizard says that I should try to open it by myself and then retry it, I can't read the file in the folder, but if I move it to other folder, I can open the file easily.
Did somebody has same issue while running the instal wizard? What can I do?
I'll appreciate your help in advance.

rdz007: did you fix the issue with Compiled_Released_Notes.pdf? I didn't have this kind of problem during installation.. How do you install RSLogix? Do you use virtual machine? Sometimes there are problems if you keep the installation files in your host folder, not inside VM. I had these kind of problems with TIA portal.
About product key: you don't need it according to description. Just skip activation at the end of installation and use patch files afterwards. |

I installed only Studio_V32 including V32_Emulate and used V31Patch.
Both software’s are running fine without interruption but the Factory Talk Activation Manager
Is not working anymore and complains entry point in FTACcommon.DLL not found.
I guess the FTACcommon.DLL needs to be modified for the new Version FTAM 4.03.03
Anyways. that Guy on http://100-sf.com/Rockwell.html found a different way to active the Software .
My concern is that he can ad an virus in his Patch.exe

You should install Studio V31 first and Patch. After that V32 and Emulate. According to other guys this is working with no issue however in my case it wasn't.
I have install patch directly on V32 and I received "ActivationNotifier has stopped working" message but as soon as I've disabled FTA on windows startup all works fine with license etc.
Try to disable Factory Talk like I did. |

After installing V32 go to windows add/remove program page and uninstall "FactoryTalk Activation Manager" and then install only V31 FactoryTalk Activation Manager which is v4.02.00. Btw when you copy&paste patched file, you don't need to stop any service from task manager just drag&drop or cut&paste these files "flexsvr.exe FTACommon.dll"on desktop and then paste with pached ones. After restart windows you can delete the ones you moved to the desktop. That's it ;) |

Thank you very much for this TIP.
It works fine. I uninstalled FTAM 4.03 and installed the older FATM 4.00.03 from Rslogix 30.00.00 Everything works great now.
My hope is that some person can adjust the flexsvr.exe & FTACommon.dll for the newer FTAM .

And another way, much easier: copy the patched files to a USB, restart in safe mode, now copy from stick to program folder and then just restart. That's it, even better!
You say "that's it", like your steps are better than the original instructions, when in fact they complicate things (one move operation, plus one copy operation, plus a computer RESTART, plus a delete operation, compared with the original instructions which were to stop from the task manager a service, a copy operation, then start back the service). |

Tried the above methods and it didn't work.
This method worked for me.( running VM workstation 8)
Installed and activated v31.
Installed V32 and removed FTA.
Installed FTA 4.00.02 from V30.
Installed V31 patch.
I hope it works:
Under Logix Designer Tab I see the V31 and under more info i see V31 & V32 |

Stopping the activation service from the task manager does not work on every PC. |

Today I found out that after I using CCleaner cleaning registry for windows
that Emulate V30 to V32 not work any more and need new installation.
After cleaning with CCleaner you can’t register a CPU in slot any more.
Just be aware about it.
