Search the registry mod in a hex editor for the hex values of f2 08 00 to see where the edits were made.
7 edits= 6 powerpacs and 1 RS key edits.
If you go into RS and manage the licence keys you can see that all the powerpacs have different keystrings and RS and all the converters share a common keystring…

| You can uninstall the older Powerpacs after you update to the newer ones. You don’t need them. |

| If your interestested in a de lux licence then i suggest you call your local ABB rep. As far as manuals and training materials, i would just use google. There is plently out there... |

Hi,
I need to install RS 6.06 in W10 because RS 6.04 has problems in W10.
I checked two years ago. An update of W10 damaged RS 6.04 and ABB offered 6.06 to solve the problem.
I am not sure if it's possible to crack 6.06 by regedit. I did it with 6.02 and 6.04 and know that it's not possible with 6.08 because one of my friends tried and it didn't crack well.
Is it possible to crack 6.06 by regedit as 6.02 and 6.04?

Yes...install 6.04 and follow instructions. After your done update to 6.08.01 if you like. The license work around doesn't need to be repeated after it is first setup. The modified license will carry over to your new updated version of robotstudio. I suggest you don't update past 6.08.01, robotstudio 2019 was reportedly fixed. I have not verified it though.
if you have already preformed the crack on a previous version 6.02 or 6.04 then just update robotstudio to the version you want |

So, I can't install 6.04 on W10 and then update to 6.06, I don't think so.

Ok first off...im thinking your w10 is windows 10? That's all I've ever used and never had an issue. Secondly yes, uninstall the previous versions.
The license key used is installed by 6.04 into your registry. It doesn't get updated when you install the updated version of robotstudio. It continues to use the same key....the key that you have modified. I don't understand why you have issues with using the earlier version of robotstudio with windows 10. What issues are you having? Will it install? Will it run? That's all you need to do. Install...modify the key....run once...install updated version of of RS. Uninstall old version. I've posted the reg file with all modifications done for you. You can try 6.06 and install the modified reg key if you like and see if that works. I'm not sure if it will because im not sure if you'll be able to modify the key installed by a later version of RS. Like I said, you can try. Although the earlier key still functions in newer versions of RS, im not sure the new keys installed by newer versions of RS have the same layout....meaning im not sure if the multiplier that you modify is located in the same spot in the new key.
I would install 6.04...modify the key...install 6.06 RS and run that version. Don't run the 6.04 but use the 6.04 install to get the key you need into the registry.
I don't think I can give you a definitive answer on what to do...Just do some testing. I'm sure you'll get it working..
I've read the link you posted and it said "A recent security update* for Windows 10 causes the robot controller communication to fail" you are not even going to get that far before you update RS. All you need is the software to load once...you don't need to actually use it or load a cell hence avoiding the issue that RS 6.04 and your copy of win10 has. It also said that Microsoft was going to provide an update to fix the issue. This was a year and a half ago. I think you should do some testing. Your assuming it just wont work like before and things could have been fixed.
I'm also not sure if the key is installed during the initial RS install, something tells me you have to run the software at least once before the key is installed in the registry because RS doesn't know if your using the trial or a license key from ABB to begin with until you run the software.
I would say follow the instructions provided and see before you try anything else... Let me know how it goes |

Yes, W10 is Windows 10.
I had RS6.04 on W10 two years ago and I could live the problem with the security update.
I'll do what you recomend. I'll install 6.04, modify the key, run one time and update to 6.06 and try if it works well.
I modified the key in 6.02 and in 6.04, but never in 6.06. That's the reason I ask for it. but I remeber that I updated to 6.06 from 6.04 on W10 when the problem and it worked.
I have to install next week, so I let you know how it's going.

Hi,
I've just intalled 6.04 and cracked and install 6.06 and license is ok.
It shows 8826 days.
But I have a problem when I try to add a controller, it shows a message saying that there is a problem to begin the virtual controller and says that a directory is not found or is damaged or it's not able to be used when the virtual controller is run.
C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\ABB Industrial IT\Robotics IT\RobotWare\Robotware_6.06.1025
xxxxx is my user.
How can I solve this problem?

I'm not sure. have you tried to access the directory?
Is it a robotware issue?
You can download diff versions of the robotware.
You could just update to 6.08.01 and try that. |

Hi,
I could access to the directory. It was a hidden folder, but it was there.
The reason of why RS couldn't access to it, no idea.
I finally did what you said, update to 6.08 and everything is ok now.
And I desinstalled 6.06 and no problem with 6.08, everything is working

| the only way is to run version 6.08 with the "run as date" program by blocking the date on the day you install RS. From 6.08 onwards there is no cure that works. If you use the regedit cure after 30 days anyway (even if it indicates that they remain thousands of days) RS will not let you use any virtual controls (personally tested). If anyone has any other solution, share it as well. Thanks a lot. |
