Hello did anyone have the WinAC OPC Client ?? It was used for data exchange from WinAC to other OPC Servers.

Have no one the bundle?
I use a homemade 80S52 PLC with Modbus RTU Interface for home automation. They are communicate over a homemade RS485 / RS232 repeater with the PC. I want to control the PLCīs over WinAC und WinCC.
The communication between WinCC and KepserverEX is OK. But to control the PLCīs I need WinAC with Modbus OPC.
Is it possible to communicate over the Simatic NET OPC with my PLC or need I the WinAC OPC client????

Hello testo,
I was in a trip and I've just see your post...and there are some misunderstandings...???
Let me know exactly ..you have a home made PLC using micro-controller AT89S8252?
What type of interface RS485 are you using for communication?
Because it's very important to know at what (ISO) level your adapter reach-on...
For using OPC Server from WinAC you must have a driver from your PLC
or Adapter which could put the transmission packets on some registers for using then in application to be"seen" as OPC protocols from the SIEMENS WinAC..
I am afraid you must use some programmable OPC.NET APIs depending on OS you are using as somebody put on this link:
http://plc.myforum.ro/opcnet-api-sdk-vt1069.html
But this means you have to know very well C/C++ on .NET programming..and believe me... sometimes it is very difficult to do that with some controllers...
To be sincerely with you.... I really appreciate you for starting to build at home a PLC but ...I have some suspicions about home-made PLCs and adapters...but no problem ...I'll help you if I can and you give me some supplementary data... |

Hello rott,
the controller is an home made AT89S52 board with a portbus card where I can plug in different kind of home made input, output, analog Input and analog output cards. The programm and the Modbus RTU driver of the PLCīs and the Repeater are programmed in assembly language by myself. It is non commercial. The Interface is an MAX481 IC for RS485 communication on the PLC-boards an the repeater and an MAX232 IC for RS232 communication between the repeater and the PC Station.
The communication between KEPServerEx and the PLCīs are OK. I can read and write Variables of all PLCīs (at this ocazie there are 3 PLCīs). Also the communication between WinCC and the OPC Server is OK. I programmed a simply PLC port visualisation in WinCC where I can read inputs bits, write outputs bits, read analog Input bytes, and write analog output bytes.
But the controllers are only decentral peripheral components. So i must control the PLCīs over WinAC and programm the different kind of variables for each PLC in Step7.
I have read the WinAC documentaion. Maybe I can communicate over the SIMATIC NET OPC Scout with KEPServerEX for data exchange. Is that correct???

Hello Testo,
I really appreciate you for your pioneering work but look...
You cannot use SIMATIC NET OPC Scout with KEPServerEX because this works only with at least one CP(Communication Processor) from SIEMES or as I've understood you do not use something like that.
You are using the Serial Port RS232 from your computer so in this case "nobody" can handle your communication with your application.
You have to use the resources of your OS from your computer (handle the RS232 communication) for being "read" by the WinAC application.
My opinion is you have to use WinAC/ODK and use the model from this picture:
That means you have to access the buffers from OS of the RS232 port and handle all RTS/CTS requests ....and data...synchronized..
You have to install the VStudio from Microsoft....
C/C++ Microsoft Visual C++ V6.0
Microsoft Visual C++ .NET
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005
or
C/C++ Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Windows
Visual Basic Microsoft Visual Basic 2005
Microsoft Visual Basic 2008
or
C# Microsoft Visual C# 2005
Microsoft Visual C# 2008
and WinAC Open Development Kit from:
https://rapidshare.com/files/1947874215/WinAC_ODK_V4.2.rar
also WinACRTX which you have probably installed...
https://rapidshare.com/files/2993423462/WINAC_RTX_v4.4.part1.rar
https://rapidshare.com/files/1286045503/WINAC_RTX_v4.4.part2.rar
Read carefully the WinAC ODK manuals and in this environment you can access and use from Step7 the Windows OS resources.
Regarding the Visual Studio you can download from this forum ..as I remember...
Good luck. |

OK. Thank you for your help!!
But the communication between KEPServerEx and the SIMATIC OPC-Scout is possible. Look at the picture. The variables of the PLCīs are available in the SIMATC OPC-Scout. You need KEPServerEx with Modbus serial PlugIn. With other PlugInīs you can communicate with many others PLCīS.

Sorry, but I cannot show the pictue in this post????
I dont must configure the OPC-Scout to communicate with KEPServerEx. I had only install the OPC-Server and when I open the SIMATIC OPC-Scout the KEPServerEx was already in the List. Even the Variables of the OPC-Server.
In the next weekend i will try to control the variables of OPC-Scout with Step7.

I saw a similar problem in this topic but with LabView
http://plc.myforum.ro/plc-simatic-s7-300-controlat-din-labview-vt2240.html
If you can surpass the "link" between the Serial buffer from Windows with this particular IC with Kepserver then it's OK.
I do not use Kepserver but as soon as I have WinAC OPC Client I'll let you know to see if it works.
With the solution I proposed above you can control from Spep7 without Kepserver but with OPC SDK from the following post I downloaded and used:
http://plc.myforum.ro/opcnet-api-sdk-vt1069.html
Good luck. |

Hello rott,
in the first step I want to test the OPC-Scout and WinAC with KEPServerEx. If this connection is possible I want to control in the second step my PLCīs with C++ and WinAC ODK with my own programmed OPC-Server. But I to be afraid that it will take a little bit longer Time if itīs been finished.
greetings

Do not worry, I agree with your opinion

| Hi, if you only need to read and write data to WinAC for reporting you can use 'S7 Excel Connect'. |
