Position - Electrical Design/PLC Software Engineer
Salary - Person with experience - £25k - £30k
Location - East Midlands

The Company:

Part of a $billion family owned co-operation, my OEM client provides specialist packaging machinery for various manufacturing companies, ranging from sweets and pea's to pharmaceutical and more.
Succession and growth plans are on the horizon via group acquisition, currently boasting a portfolio of 48 companies.
Alongside their design and manufacturing activities, the business also carryout the installation, commissioning, parts/spare sales and the field service aftercare. Their product is normally made from stainless steel, mild steel or aluminium. Each machine consists of - off the shelf and bespoke components and prices can range up to £250,000 each

The Role:

Working alongside an existing team of 6 highly experienced engineers consisting of Electrical EsteticÄƒ specialists and Software/control specialists.
Your role will be diverse, interesting and very challenging. You can look forward to:

- Customer spec comes in outlining what they need
- You carry out Electrical control panel and system design using AutoCAD 2D/autoCAD Electrical
- Act as a help desk to customers having problems with the machinery.
- Create a solution for the problem I.E. re-design and component upgrades
- Provide installation drawings
- Slowly develop their software skills and start carrying out basic system programming and code writing
- Write the software - Alan Bradley RS Logix and Siemens
- Carry out FAT Test on rare occasions
- Specify hardware required - digital analogue inputs, encoders, screens, which plc

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will have the following essential knowledge and attributes:

- HND education as a minimum - preferably in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Electrical Stil and also open to any engineering discipline
- Conversant with AutoCAD 2D or AutoCAD Electrical
- An understanding of PLCs - basic understanding of how they work and being able to look into the code.
- Able to change PLC parameters is a bonus.
- Previous software experience is a big bonus
- Candidates who want to become Software specialists is a must for this role.
