Controllers for electric overhead conveyors (EOC) with different communication types.
Siemens will supplement the electric overhead conveyor portfolio and thus cover the entire range of lightweight to heavyweight EOCs for our customers.
The controllers intended for this purpose are the new SIMATIC S7-1200 and S7-1500, which are both programmed using standard Siemens software.
On the drive end, frequency converters (SINAMICS) and drives (SIMOGEAR) from Siemens, which are also programmed using standard Siemens software, will be used.
The controllers are generally differentiated based on the communication between carriage and plant.
EMS400S communicates by means of power signal booster communication (full duplex pulse code communication via the rail with 4x16-bit/sec)

The PSB-C (power signal propulsor carrier) module is employed in the cart and establishes the communication between it and the segment control.
The module is connected on the right of the S7-1200 as an IO module.
The PSB-C module can operate one rail channel.

The Technology Extension "Control for Segmented Linear Motors" (RAILCTRL, Rail Control) is an extension for the SINAMICS S120 drive object SERVO. It is used to control segment transitions of carriers when moving continuously over several linear motors (linear motor distance).
The Technology Extension RAILCTRL is a prerequisite for the operation of the Multi-Carrier-Systems (MCS). Multi-carrier systems are linear motor transport systems which are -for example- used in packaging machines and assembly applications.

Technology Extension (TEC) is also known as Open Architecture Application (OA-Application).
