|
|
Setup:
Softlogix 5800 V21
Studio 5000 V21
FTView V21
RSLinx V3.8 (with Enterprise)
CPPPO (ENIP Communications parser https://github.com/pjkundert/cpppo )
Softlogix Cards:
Slot 2 Ethernet/IP
Slot 3 Softlogix Controller
Slot 4 Simulated IO
I have gotten everything to communicate correctly in softlogix except for the ability to read/write tags using the Ethernet/IP communications. (disabled UDP in RSLinx)
When using the CPPPO command line I can query the Ethernet card and I get back information when why i try to query Tag information I get an error
""Tag Pump1 returned a non-zero status"
I believe this is a generic python error from the cpppo tool, but I had a few questions:
1. Does anyone know if there is another command line tool to read/write tags using Ethernet/IP instead of cpppo (trying to stay away from OPC for now)?
2. Is there a special way to this needs to be configured for Ethernet/IP communications in softlogix? (BTW I have followed the Softlogs manual step by step with same results)
3. Has any been successful in setting up Softlogix with Ethernet/IP and using CPPPO?
Thanks in advance, I would really appreciate any help!

Thanks Tortuga for the reply!
So if I have been reading the documentation correctly then the SoftLogix controller is actually a "simple" device which only really allows "Get/Set" attributes to be used as an "Unconnected" device type. While a ControlLogix would allowed "Connected" requests.
"It is critical to use the correct API with the correct address type and options, to achieve communications with your device. Some devices can use “Unconnected” requests, while others cannot. The MicroLogix is such an example; you may use “Unconnected” requests to access basic CIP Objects (such as Identity), but not much else. Most other devices can support “Unconnected” access to their data. Some devices can only perform basic CIP services such as “Get/Set Attribute Single/All” using numeric CIP Class, Instance and Attribute addressing, while others support the *Logix “Read/Write Tag [Fragmented]” requests using Tag names. You need to know (or experiment) to discover their capability. Still others such as the CompactLogix and ControlLogix Controllers can support “routing” requests; many others require the -S option to disable this functionality, or they will respond with an error status. "
Is this correct?
For testing I am now trying to use the enip_get_attribute command instead of the enip_client command, however I am still not able to "get" tag value information. I now get a "status==none" for every tag I try to query.
I also noticed that in some cases they recommend to use the class/instance/attribute, but I am having a hard time finding where to get this information for Rockwell.
I believe this is correct, but I would like some help in verifying, as you can see I am getting the "None" status for both:
python -m cpppo.server.enip.get_attribute '@0x04/1/1' -a 192.168.1.140
Mon Aug 15 13:20:06 2016: 0: Single G_A_S '@0x04/1/1' == None
python -m cpppo.server.enip.get_attribute 'StartPB' -a 192.168.1.140
Mon Aug 15 13:21:26 2016: 0: Single G_A_S 'StartPB' == None |
