2. New licensing tip for SIMIT
SIMATIC SIMIT V10 introduces a new licensing model based on a USB dongle. The dongle is part of the licensing concept and must always be plugged in. It also serves as a secure and central storage location for all licenses.
2.1 USB-Dongle and Licenses
The USB dongle is labeled with a serial number in the compus "3-xxxxxxx". This is a unique number is which is used as the base of licenses creation. In case of a subsequent order, the serial number of the dongle must always be indicated in the ordering information.
2.2 System-ID
In future, a fixed assignment of the USB dongles to the respective system ID is planned for SIMIT. The fields required for this are already included in the relevant part numbers (Article numbers). For the time being, a dummy system ID Y01: 0000-0000-0000 must be specified for SIMIT orders.
2.3 Summarized delivery of the license products in a shopping basket
All license orders of a shopping cart will be delivered on a single data carrier (USB stick or download file). To optimize customer benefit and due to the new licensing model, all ordered licenses are assigned to a system represented by the dongle (see point 2.1). Therefore, all licenses of a shopping cart are delivered on a single data carrier and require the reference to the dongle.
3. Software license orders of SIMIT products
Depending on the use case, different order information is required to order a license for SIMIT. Depending on the case, it may be necessary to add a dongle and/or USB stick to the shopping cart.

4. Import licensedata into an USB-Dongle
The following document describes the necessary steps, to import the delivered licenseproducts into the USB-Dongle. To use the licenses, you have to transfer them into the dongle.

5. Transfer of licenses: From Dongle A to Dongle B
All licenses for a project or plant are stored centrally on a USB dongle. This dongle is part of the licensing process and must always be plugged in so that all computers in a subnetwork can access it.
In order to transfer licenses to another dongle, a new license with the serial number of the target dongle must be created. This document describes the procedure for transferring licenses and the steps and functions required for this:
