This application example provides a guideline on how to use a Simcenter Amesim multiphysics model as part of virtual commissioning (VC).
This application describes the necessary analysis and adjustments of the Simcenter Amesim model to enable an efficient co-simulation between the model and a virtualized PLC program in the context of Virtual Commissioning (VC). The whole workflow - starting with the validated Simcenter Amesim standalone model and finishing with VC based on the prepared model – is illustrated based on the Simcenter Amesim model of the converting demonstration machine and the demo PLC project of SIMATIC Converting Library.

With this application example you can maximize the utilization of your multiphysics model for various engineering use cases and enhance your virtual commissioning setup with a detailed physical digital twin of your machine.
The following use cases can be performed:
Test your PLC program including Motion Control functionality with multiphysics model of the machine.
Enhance the development of your Simcenter Amesim model using the setpoint generation implemented in PLC code.
Extend your simulation in SIMIT using a physical Simcenter Amesim model exported as functional mock-up unit (FMU, also possible as model handover).
