SIMATIC/SIMOTION Axis Control
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/48816191/simatic-simotion-axis-control
The application "Axis Control" provides basic motion control functionalities for axes, e.g. jog, positioning, homing, synchronism, superimposed movements, etc. It can be used for an easy and time-saving commissioning of an axis. Furthermore it can be used as a basis to implement any motion control application.
The axis control function blocks provide basic motion control functionalities for SIMATIC and SIMOTION and ease and speed up the commissioning of axes. SIMATIC users can select the proper function block fitting best to the axis type. A common configuration allows a later change of the axis type without losing any user settings.
The function blocks can be called in every programming language in the user program, e.g. ST/SCL or LAD/FBD. For SIMATIC users a WinCC control panel is provided in the example project. For SIMOTION users a web-based control panel is available.
The following motion control functionalities are provided by the "Axis Control" blocks:
| Code: | Enable / disable axis
Reset of an axis (acknowledgement of the errors at the technology object / restart of the technology object)
Jogging (incremental / continuous)
Move axis at velocity / speed setpoint (position-controlled / non position-controlled)
Stop / fast stop
Homing (active / passive/setting of a position value / absolute encoder adjustment)
Positioning (relative / absolute)
Superimposed positioning
Gearing (relative / absolute)
Camming (relative / absolute, offset and scaling, cyclic and non-cyclic cams, different synchronization modes)
Phasing (setting of an offset for an existing synchronous operation)
The SIMATIC axis control block provides in addition to the system integrated functionality:
Moving an axis with force / torque limiting with and without fixed stop detection
Homing on fixed stop
Stop and disable a slave axis without desynchronizing (synchronizedMotionSimulation)
Changing the velocity, position, gear ratio and phase shift on-the-fly
Providing status information of the axis (statusWord, errorWord, warningWord)
Unconditionally opening and closing of the holding brake

SIMATIC/SIMOTION Library LCamHdl – Creation of cam disks at runtime
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/105644659/simatic-simotion-library-lcamhdl-%E2%80%93-creation-of-cam-disks-at-runtime
The application supports the user in creating cam disks at runtime.
Motion sequences in modern production machines are realized with electronic cam disks instead of former mechanical cam disks. Advantages are optimization possibilities regarding jerk-free movements, maximum acceleration, reduced vibrations, reduced wear and reduced downtime when changing formats. The creation as well as the modification of the cam disk should also be possible during natural operation of the machine to adapt to the current product. This shall be as simple and performant as possible.
Solution
The LCamHdl library for SIMATIC and SIMOTION provides a function block that supports the user in creating high-quality and jerk-free cam disks compliant to VDI guideline 2143. The necessary calculations of the segments of different profile types especially of polynomial coefficients and standardizations are done by the function block.
In addition a more handsome "basic" function block exists for SIMATIC. The cam disk can be defined as a set of points and related dynamic values. The function block calculates the appropriate segments with 5th degree polynomials. Thus it is easy to handle the most commonly used cam profiles at production machines.
The function blocks can be called in every programming language in the user program, e.g. ST/SCL or LAD/FBD. For SIMATIC users an HMI is provided in the example project. With this HMI the “at runtime” created cam disks can be read and visualized.

SIMATIC/SIMOTION Axis Control
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/48816191/simatic-simotion-axis-control
The application provides motion control functionalities for controlling axes (technology objects) easily. It can also be used as a basis for advanced technological software modules. The advantage is that there is no need for implementing and testing an own axis control based on the built-in PLCopen motion control blocks.
Homing (active / passive / setting of a position value / absolute encoder adjustment)
Positioning (relative / absolute)
Superimposed positioning
Gearing (relative / absolute)
Camming (relative / absolute, offset and scaling, cyclic and non-cyclic cams, different synchronization modes)
Phasing (setting of an offset for an existing synchronous operation)
Unconditionally opening and closing of the holding brake |
The SIMATIC axis control block provides in addition the following functionalities:
| Code: | Moving an axis with force / torque limiting with and without fixed stop detection
Homing on fixed stop
Stop and disable a slave axis without desynchronizing (synchronizedMotionSimulation)
Changing the velocity, position, gear ratio and phase shift on-the-fly
Providing status information of the axis (statusWord, errorWord, warningWord) |
