In contrast to conventional conveyor belt systems, the carriers can move independently of each other. This is achieved by specific control of the individual linear motor segments and by transition between them, which is ensured by the Technology Extension (TEC) RAILCTRL. Thus, fast and individual configurations can be realized in assembly, battery or packaging applications, for example.

The standard application "Control of a multi-carrier system" with the LRailCtrl library enables easy movement of the carriers over the linear track with full functionality of the PLCopen Motion Control commands integrated in the SIMATIC S7-1500T. Furthermore, management and control of the linear track of the Multi-Carrier-System in interaction with TEC RAILCTRL is also part of the library.

A preconfigured memory card image with enclosed GSDML file for the SINAMICS S120 CU320-2 PN is offered for commissioning the linear track. This means that the Multi-Carrier-System can be put into operation completely without a drive engineering tool. The complete parameterization of the system is carried out in the SIMATIC S7-1500T and distributed to the drive systems.

This enables the TIA portal to be used as a central point for commissioning and diagnostics.
