The SIMATIC standard application Line Control “LLnCtrl” generates position-dependent switching signals called “output cams”. These signals may be used internally by the user’s program or may be assigned a digital output I/O device. The standard application is designed for linear or feedthrough machines processing products transported by a linear conveyor, e.g. edge banding machines.
The main functions performed by the application "Line Control" are listed below:

Readout of positions of front/rear edges or other prominent points on the workpiece/part, initiated by a sensor signal
Assignment of machining program to workpiece
Tracking of workpieces/parts as they move through the machining area
Calculation of switching values for switching outputs with static and dynamic components
Output of switching functions to digital outputs
Note: To ensure successful and reliable "continuous machining", the workpieces must be transported along the entire machining line without slip.
