SIMATIC Ident HF and UHF RFID readers by Siemens are also enabled to be controlled by Phoenix Contact controllers using the so called "Ident-Profil".
This application example describes the commissioning of a SIMATIC RF680R UHF reader and a SIMATIC RF340R HF reader on a Phoenix Contact PLC (with PROFINET controller) with the PC WORX configuration tool. An RF185C, RF186C, RF188C or RF180C communication module is required to operate RF300. An RF186C is used in the example.

For the programming interface between the Ident device (e.g. RF680R) and the user program, we supply the Phoenix Contact library "Simatic_Ident". The instructions "Ident_Profile_xxkB" contained therein support the following functions:
Configuration of the reader
Editing commands
Reading and writing of data
Diagnostics
The Ident Profile is a single complex instruction that supports all commands and functions for RFID systems. Communication between the Ident device and the Phoenix Contact controller takes place via PROFINET.
