The SIMATIC PCS 7 MPC Configurator V8.1 SP1 is used to configure multivariable controllers that are included in the PCS 7 Advanced Process Library (APL) ≥ V8.2.

After the manipulated and controlled variables as well as the disturbance variables have been identified, the response to manipulated value jumps must be recorded using a trend display in the CFC Editor or on the operator station (OS). The MPC-Configurator can then be used to determine the models as well as the matrices for the multivariable controllers "ModPreCon" (MPC4x4) or "MPC10x10" based on the recorded measured data. The SCL source with the models and matrices generated by the configurator can then be compiled in PCS 7 so that the MPC function block to be configured can access the calculated data.
