The CP 16xx is then available for both S7 communication and as Windows network card. A CP 16xx is not recognized as network adapter in Windows. When you install SIMATIC NET, a virtual network adapter (NDIS) is set up with which the CP 16xx is available as Windows network card.This is necessary, for example, for accessing the web interfaces of SCALANCE switches on the plant bus. The CP 16xx is available once in the system but has two internal IP addresses for the following communications: Industrial Ethernet address for S7 communication NDIS address for Windows communication Each address must be in a separate subnet to ensure smooth communication. Integration of a CP 16xx / reinstallation of a computer With a SIMATIC IPC the CP 16xx is already integrated and ready for operation. This means that the initial setup is skipped and you can continue directly with assigning addresses during operation. If a CP 16xx is slotted in a system with pre-installed SIMATIC NET and is not recognized as adapter, you have to reinstall SIMATIC NET. Initial setup of a CP 16xx The following instructions are for setting up the CP 16xx and absolutely necessary for the initial integration of a CP: 1. Open "Siemens Automation > SIMATIC > SIMATIC NET > Communication Settings" on your computer and select the communications processor (CP) to be configured under "Modules > CP 16XX > General" and "PG mode" as the module operating mode. 2. Switch to "Address" and click the "Network properties ..." button. 3. Mark the CP 16xx and in the pop-up menu you select "Right-click > Properties". 4. Select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click the "Properties" button. 5. Assign an IP address and subnet mask for the NDIS communication and apply the change with the "OK" button. 6. Switch to the Communications Settings and in the "Industrial Ethernet" area you set the IP address and subnet mask for the S7 communication. 7. Then switch the mode of the module to "Configured mode". Changing the addresses in natural mode Below we show two ways of changing the NDIS and Ethernet addresses. Correct configuration of the CP 1613 / CP 1623 is required for this procedure. The NDIS address is changed in the Windows Network and Sharing Center. The Industrial Ethernet address in the S7 project is changed in the HW Config of the ES/OS. 1. To open the properties of the CP 1623 you double-click the CP 1623 and click the "Properties..." button. 2. Enter the required IP address and subnet mask and then click the "OK" button. Warning Using the same subnet for "NDIS" and "Industrial Ethernet" leads to communication problems with the CP.
