On every OPC UA server you will find for every variable and for every variable type the corresponding type definition under a specific Node Id in the address space. This entry lists the Node Ids of the type definitions of the SIMATIC data types of the OPC UA server of a SIMATIC S7-1200 / S7-1500.
The semantic node system of OPC UA requires that all nodes in the address space of a server are derived from a specified type. This means that variables and variable types in special must have a specific type definition (DataType) as an attribute. These type definitions contain a Node Id that refers to a node in which the data type of the respective variable is defined. Each data type is also a node.
