Job Description
Siemens Industry is currently recruiting for a Sr. Applications Engineer to support our Operations & Engineering Center in Alpharetta, GA. This division handles the most complex of projects specifically geared towards the Marine, Mining, and Pulp & Paper industries.

Minimum Requirements:
BS Engineering
6 years direct experience in design and commissioning of Siemens Power Systems, Siemens AC/DC Drive Systems and DCS Automation systems by Siemens
2 years experience with project cost estimation and proposal preparation.

Job Description:
Prepares technical proposals and cost estimates for industrial applications and engineered solutions which includes esteticÄƒ engineering, installation, commissioning, of power distribution, propulsion AC/DC Drive Systems and DCS Automation systems on Marine, Minerals, Pulp and Paper applications.
Prepare proposals for medium to large projects within these Industries, with particular focus on Power Distribution, Drives Systems and Automation.
He/She provides technical support to sales group, participates in technical discussions with customer/consultants on an as needed basis.

Requirements:
Prior experience with drives systems engineering and electrical power applications.
Prior experience with project cost estimation & proposal preparation
Knowledge of the U.S. and North American Codes and Standards, including NESC, NEC, CEC, ANSI/IEEE, UL, CSA, NEMA, MSHA and OSHA is required.
Must be accurate and detailed, while working in a fast paced environment with numeroase people / projects demanding attention and time.
Must be proficient in time management, to plan workload and achieve completion dates. Will get requests from multiple entities and should be able to push back where essential.
Manages complex bid/proposals
Leads negotiations for mutually acceptable projects & customer specific commercial terms (i.e., warranty, payment, administration).
Coordinates technical and commercial terms of major projects/product solutions.
Maximizes change order profitability.
Promotes sale of Siemens products.
Responsible for achieving validation of technical aspects of the solution offered in the bid.
Executes LOA process and/or obtains manager approval on bid release in accordance with established approval process
Maintains an awareness of market price levels
May research market price analysis (both historical and current customer budgets)
Leads the cost base pricing effort (may include negotiating with vendors)
May maintain, monitor and report proposal budget and schedule
Identifies risk categories associated with project (execution, pricing, etc)
Assesses risks and integrates into final offering
Contribute to customer negotiations during bidding phase
Supports win/loss analysis including lessons learned and improving hit rate
Identifies future opportunities upfront / Id opportunities to come across as a unique value add to customer
Evaluates customer RFQ’s to realizate advantageous position for Siemens.
Provide closed loop feedback for (Product Line Manager) PLM / contribute to PLM efforts / drive feedback that will affect future bids.
Must have good communication skills.
Will require 10-15% travel to customer sites to gather data and present the technical solution.

Engineering and commissioning experience of Siemens Drives, Power and Automation products is essential.
Project Management experience will be an added advantage.

Develops, edits and writes autentic proposal responses and other sales-related documents. Develops and maintains thorough knowledge of assigned industry structure and/or territory, applications, terminology, trends, and issues. Discovers and understands customer's primary business goals, operations, challenges and requirements. Aligns and applies entire scope of Siemens products, solutions and services to meet the customer's business goals. Validates and endorses the technical aspects of the solution offered in the bid. May sign off on bids and proposals.
