|
|
Hi,
I have requirement to connect multiple PAC3100 meters over Ethernet to central power monitoring system.
Problem is that PAC3100 only support Modbus RTU ( RS485) as communication.
My query is standard RS 485 to Ethernet converter will work or need to buy Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP/IP converter.
I am not sure basically about any difference between RS-485 to Ethernet converter and Modbus RTU-Modbus TCP/IP converter.
Also please suggest make if anyone has experience using with Siemens make PAC 3100 meter.
Regards,

Dear M'am,
Thanks for your kind information and sharing information.
Believe that my query is still different and elaborated herewith. I would like to hook-up multiple PAC3100 meters to Sentron Power manager which is centralised monitoring facility over Modbus TCP/IP.
PAC3100 meter only supports Modbus RTU protocol so need converter for Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP/IP.
Now would like to know that normal RS 485 to Ethernet converter will work or any unic converter required for Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP/IP conversion.
Regards,
BK |

Hi,
one year ago, I tested communication between Sentron and PAC 3100.
At that time I used MOXA DE311 converter and it was succesfull.
My developed application was a bit different:
I use an S7-1200 PLC with RS 485 module that collect data from 14 PAC 3100 using modbus protocol for all PAC 3100. Then data are available trough Ethernet.
What do you think? It is also much cheaper...

Its excellent idea...will check both option ( converter v/s PLC) economically and will implement. Thx a lot. |
