Robot Programmers - Automotive (Perm and Contract)

Our client specialise in the provision of bespoke automation systems for supply throughout the UK, and as a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit a number of both permanent and fixed term interim Robot Programming Engineers to complement their established and successful team.

Successful candidates will be responsible for programming robots within automated systems and fully integrating them with associated control systems, joining equipment and end effectors to the customers specification, so previous experience within a busy manufacturing environment is critical for these roles. You will ensure that the robot is programmed with safety being paramount at all times and that up to date program files are kept and stored correctly, ensuring robot checklists are completed in line with project timing and that the robot loom is dressed to reduce the wear to a minimum. You will effectively assist mechanical and electrical systems in the setting up of safety cams to ensure that all manual load windows are safe and consistently set-up end effectors i.e. grippers etc correctly, assisting the weld engineers in the setting up of welding equipment and ensuring that the communication between the end effectors, slave units and PLC comply within the customers specification.

You will additionally assist the software engineer in the commissioning of the automated robot cells and ensure that collision zones between robots are safe, taking all appropriate steps to ensure that the cycle time requirements of the customer are met and working effectively with off line programs from rob-cad where supplied and providing detailed, accurate and on-time documentation in line with the customers and company specification. You will support and assist the launch team and customer throughout launch and production cover and be an effective team member, working closely with your supervisor and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output, and will need to be willing and available to work at company and customer premises in the UK and overseas so a flexible approach is a prerequisite for the role.

To be considered for these challenging and varied roles, you will demonstrate proven exhaustive skills and experience of robots and robot languages i.e. Robot Studio for ABB IRC5 in particular, as well as a good working knowledge and understanding of automated systems. An understanding of JLR standards will prove to be distinctly advantageous as will a good understanding of controls systems i.e. Interbus-s and experience in welding / rivetting and general multi disciplined reactive and planned preventative maintenance.
