Implicit reading and writing of PROFINET data records

The implicit reading and writing of PROFINET data records allows an S7-1500 controller to read or write data records from an IO device that are assigned to another IO controller. For this purpose, this example provides suitable function modules.
If PROFINET data records are to be read or written by an S7-1500 controller from an IO device that is not assigned to it by a corresponding configuration as an IO device, this example offers you corresponding function blocks.

Various use cases are possible for implicit reading/ writing of data sets:
Asset management from an independent S7-1500 controller in the network.
Reading of provided data records from devices that are not IO devices of the S7-1500 controller, without using the "shared device" function and its limitations.
Read or write records across subnet boundaries.

The function blocks "ImplicitRead" and "ImplicitWrite", which are the basis of this example, enable an S7-1500 controller to send implicit read and write requests via a UDP connection using Open User Communication to an IO device in order to read or write data records. For this purpose, the FBs "ImplicitRead" and "ImplicitWrite" are called in the user program of the S7-1500 controller.

The S7-1500 controller acts as an RPC client (Remote Procedure Call), which sends RPC requests to the IO device as an RPC server.

The following graphic shows one of the typical use cases for implicit access to PROFINET data sets.
