Hello,
I was wondering if any of you guys have been using Macbooks for PLC programming. For example with Windows set on VMWare or other wirtual machine. How about stability of such solution? Is mac stability + virtual machine worth having?
What about communications with PLC from Siemens, Schneider, Mitsubishi etc.? |

I think it is possible.
I don't use Mac at all but on Windows platform nowdays not all PLC/SCADA software is Windows 7/x64 compatible yet.
So we use Vmware/Virtualbox a lot to with a virtual XP SP3 for example.
The "connection" to the PLC is then made or through ethernet or serial cable.
You can even pass through usb programming adapters with virtualbox/vmware software
In that opinion it should be possible to use a Mac with virtualbox/vmware software. |
