Thank you very much for the repositioning of the problem.

Well, from your questions, it seems that i have big problems.

Well,
1. i use WinXPSP3
2. i have S7-CPU1211C DC/DC/DC. It has a RJ45 plug, that says Profinet (LAN) Mac Addr...
3. i use ordinary pin to pin cable (not crossover) and i connect the 1211 to my home adsl modem-router.
4. Two weeks before, i changed the ip address of the 1211, with S7v7.5.
Today, i tried to change with a tool S71200Tool from siemens site. The result is that a got message that the settings in "S7DOS are different. Do you want to open PG/PG interface?" I opened it, i set everything to (Auto) TCP/IP Realtek (my network adapter), but still no device was found in my network. I changed cables, slots, nothing. The leds of the RJ45 are lighting.

I will follow the links that Rott gave.

And now the million dollar question.
"I want (for educational purposes) to set a plc, measure anything, and then, through labview and ethernet network, i want to see the plc working and i want to take (or change) a value from the memory of the plc. So the user can see (or control) the operation of the plc, through ethernet.
What software do you propose?
Thank you again.

thank you for your answer. The link about labview and S7-300, seems like the last images are what i want to do.

About the router.
Now i am trying to program the s7-1211C with my home computer, through ethernet (through modem-router-switch, not direct connection with crossover cable).
My goal is to make the plc measuring anything, and then, only by an ethernet cable, i would be able to see the measuring value (or even change a value, or a digital output).
After that, i will take it to my shool, i will install the plc in the 1st floor and i will control from my pc at the 2nd floor.
Easy?

When i spoke for my goal with my local representative, he told me to buy s7-1211, which can be programmed through ethernet cable and i wont need any other cable. i hope he was right.

what is PG?
with the old version s7v7.5 or 7.4, i could see the 1211 and run the "flash test", through ethernet cable. BUT, with that veersion, i saw that i cant program S7-1200. So i am testing anything i find.
Do you believe that i need s7 basic v10.5, s7 pro v11, or something totally different to do a simple program for my 1211?
thank you

i have an image of my problem.

http://www.eikona.info/images/99352761413407417680.jpg

And the Set PG/PG Interface

http://www.eikona.info/images/39565814746787857842.jpg

Also, i have tried the IPTool, but the same result.
Something wierd, is that, although i have made these days many installs- uninstalls, of different versions-products, when i have removed all the siemens softwares (that i can see in the "add or remove programs" of control panel), even i have deleted the folder Program_Files\Siemens and Program_Files\Common\Siemens, still i see installed in the Control Panel the "Set PG/PG Interface" , "Memory Card Parameter Assignment".
Is there a way to uninstall the "Set PG/PG Interface" and install it again?

Finally, i tried the Primary setup Tool
V4.1, a dll was missing (s7wbpstx.dll)
V4.0, works and finds the 1211.It shows the ip address but i can't change or reset it to default.

An idea of the last minute.
The dll (s7wbpstx.dll) that PST 4.1 cannot find, is the same dll that s7prov11 cannot find?
Can you send me a copy from your computer (and the destination folder) please?

I am not using WinXP but even so is not of any use.
When you made numeroase install/uninstall there are a lot of register keys which remains in the system registry.
Please put on the desk your project and type of router.
Regarding the missing .dll my opinion is to reinstall the entire system(OS) and the SIEMENS software

My router is Linksys WAG200G.
My project is to show the student a remote control of a plc or a distance reading of a value, through ethernet.

I have installed s7prov11 and s7prov11sp2 (and repair).
Both show the same problem.
Seems like they must find the appropriate driver installed.

So, i hope that i can find how to reinstall the "Set PG/PG Interface", or even better, find the missing dll

Reinstallation of s7 is possible (almost every 2 days, i install different download)
Reinstallation of Windows, not possible this time.

Can someone do a search in his pc for the file "s7wbpstx.dll" ?
Does anyone knows how can i uninstall and reinstall the "Set PG/PG Interface"?

Thank you

i found from downloads the dll "s7wbpstx.dll".

i found out that there are 2 versions, the new and the old.
The old i found in the Primary Setup Tool v4.0. (244Kb)

The Primary Setup Tool v4.1, was not working because the couldn't find the driver "s7wbpstx.dll".

When i found the new version of s7wbpstx.dll (142 Kb), i copied in the installation folder of S7 (Bin), and then i could begin the search through my network adapter. The problem is that, although it can search, it doesn't find any device. (The old PST could find, but could not reset the 1211).

Now the problem is to find the device, or reset the ip address that i assigned 20 days before.

Primary Setup Tool v4.1 is for Win7
For WinXP indeed you have to use Primary Setup Tool v4.0.
But your problem can't be solved with PST because I understand you have access to the PLC only via router?
Try to connect directly to PLC because routers made IP translations and you can't change IP address on the PLC.

Unfortunately, i have only ethernet cable

I respect what you are saying about the router, but:
The local representative told me that i can program it through ethernet and i don't need any other cable.

Also, my first attempt, was with s7v7.5. I could see the plc 1211, i could run the flash test, i could change the ip address (somehow he could scan the lan and it found the MAC Addr). The problem with v7.5 was that i could not program s7-1211c.

Please see the link. I am sure that you can understand more things, than me, about the problem of the cable.
http://www.automation.siemens.com/WW/forum/guests/PostShow.aspx?PageIndex=1&PostID=338329&Language=en

So, now, i see that

1. With s7prov11, the driver for ethernet adapter now seems to work, but the device cannot be found (It has ip 192.168.1.133 subnet mask 255.2552.255.0, and the router 192.168.1.1. If i am right, the default ip for plc is 192.168.0.1)
2. With PST 4.1, i cant see anything
3. With PST 4.0, i can see the 1211 but i cannot reset the address.
4. The S7-1200Tool is not working, because "S7DOS has different settings ???)

The solutions that i see at this moment, are:
1. If you can see the image of the Set PG/PG interface and find any fault, then i can make another try at this version V11
2. Install V10.5 basic and pray
2. Install v7.5 and hopefully, i would verify the ethernet connection with s7-1211 that i made 20 days before. If yes, then, reset to default address and try solution 2.

Thank you

Excuse but i cannot understand what you mean.

Although i will give a try, hoping that you mean the plc.
I have a pc with Pentium G6950, winxp pro sp3, ethernet adapter Realtek PCI GBE, i coonnect to internet through a Linksys WAG 200 G (ADSL modem router switch). On the router i have connect my pc and the plc 1211c, both with standard (not crossover) cables.

Yesterday, i tried your advise (clean install), as much as i could.
In a virtual machine, with win XP SP3, i installed the S7 v10.5 basic.
I tried some settings on the virtual machine, and my pc COULD SEE AND TEST the plc.

Today, i tried to uninstall and clean anything that i have form Siemens in my basic OS. (i am very dissapointed from Siemens in the "uninstall" sector, the least that i can say).

I will try to install the S7v11 pro, in a second virtual machine, and i will see what will happen.

Now the next step is to try to write a very simple program, and try to download it to plc. Something like "If DI0=on, then DO1=on".

membername,
It's not so clear for me what do you want to do..?
If I understand well:
1. You have a PC with an ETHERNET Card;
2. You run WinXPSP3 on a Virtual Machine;
3. You are connected to Wireless Router on the Input Port(Left side as you see from back) with a standard ETHERNET cable;
4. On the one out of four of the LAN outputs of the Router you are connected to a S7-1211 CPU, CPU that is located on a LAN Network on the other floor;

If my supposition are correct I have few questions..?
1. If you have installed Win7 32 or 64 bits why you need to run on a Virtual XP?
2. You can use Step7 V11 SP2 with latest Update4 installed on one of these OS and not Step7 V10.5 on WinXP?

Under this circumstances I suggest you to replace your Router with an unmanaged Switch CSM 1277 and all consideration from above:
Here is the manual for CSM 1277:
https://a248.e.akamai.net/cache.automation.siemens.com/dnl/TU/TUxNDAzOQAA_36087313_HB/BA_S7-1200-CSM1277_76.pdf

If you want to produse a Wireless LAN between PC and S7-1211 CPU then you need an Access Point on the PC side and a Client Point on the PLC side.

In this ocazie you are using your Router as a Switch...isn't it?

This ocazie my topology is like this

PC ==[Linksys Router]==PLC1211

If i succeed to download a simple program to the PLC, i will take it to my school and the topology will change to

PC==[switch]===[3com Router]===[switch2]===PLC1211

and the students will see remote monitoring (or control) of a system, through Labview and ethernet.

i just installed the s7 pro v11.0 on a second virtual machine and i could see the plc right away.

(The virtual machine is used because i cannot compus right now my pc)

So, as you said, if i could have a clean install, all would work.

Now, i will try to make a simple program (God help me).

Thank you for the info.
I dont want to have a wireless network, i want to use ethernet cables.

I am happy, because i just made my first project run, after 3 hours fighting with firewall and with missing info about connections. (i didn't understand if i could use the same power supply for powering plc and for giving voltage to DIs. Now i know that i can shortcircuit M terminal of power supply and M1 of DIs.

Can you tell me, do they have voltage isolated the DIs and they havent connect all Ms?

Something else. I go online and i "monitor all", the tags that i have created.
I want to monitor I0.1, not from the S7 program, but through ethernet, on a second pc, that is running labview.

My first step, is to see if the plc can "publish" (show) a register. Do you know? (Something like PLC sending data to web or to HMI panel)

Unfortunately the new Step7 V11 SP2 has not implemented yet all the functionality from Step7 V5.5 with the appropriate SIMATIC NET which contains the OPC Scout and SimaticNet OPC.
As I said before Step7 V11 SP2 is in a full development mode and not a mature one and the OPCScout and SimaticNet OPC has not released yet.
I saw a post from Mojo where explain (in Romanian ) step by step on how to connect to LabWIEW with PCS7 SP3 installed on WinXP SP3.

i have PLC S7-1211C.
A few days before, i programmed the plc a simple program (Q1=I1, Q2=-I1).
I wanted to see inside the labview, the value of a register of the plc.
Fortunatelly, at last, i can configure an opc server in my pc (kepware opc server and NI opc server).
Now, i make a simple opc client reading of the Input1, inside the labview.
Because NI opc server has not yet an opc server for S7-1200, i was wondering if siemens has made, so that i can see any great improvement from the official plc manufacturer (Siemens).
Thank you

It is a laptop computer actually a Compaq 610. A read through the links and it looks like it will be a risky affair to install WinCC SP2 on my laptop given the unistalling of drivers that i will have to do. Thanx Rott

There are few touchpads which are not comfortable with a driver. It may have a driver issue. So You need to update touch driver or download a fresh version from its official site. You can check [url=https://babasupport.org/hp/hp-laptop-touchpad-not-working/]hp touchpad not working[/url]. If you are solving your problem yourself
