Installing Neo4j
Got Java? You’ll need either Oracle JDK 7 or OpenJDK 7..see above
MacOS: do not be fooled by Apple’s offer to install Java 6. That won’t work.
Windows Enterprise: install your preferred JDK 7
Windows Community: the installer has the Java you need
Start Neo4j
Windows: run the installer. Double-click and enjoy.
MacOS & Linux: open a terminal, cd to the extracted folder, start with bin/neo4j start
Open http://localhost:7474

| Code: | As a Windows service
Download the latest release from http://neo4j.com/download.
Select the appropriate Zip distribution.
Right-click the downloaded file, click Extract All.
Refer to the top-level extracted directory as: NEO4J_HOME
With administrative rights, Neo4j can be installed as a Windows service.
Click Start → All Programs → Accessories.
Right click Command Prompt → Run as Administrator.
Provide authorization and/or the Administrator password.
Navigate to: %NEO4J_HOME%
Run: bin\Neo4jInstaller.bat install
To uninstall, run bin\Neo4jInstaller.bat remove as Administrator.
To query the status of the service, run: bin\Neo4jInstaller.bat status
To start the service from the command prompt, run: sc start Neo4j-Server
To stop the service from the command prompt, run: sc stop Neo4j-Server
You can also start and stop Neo4j from the Windows Service Manager. |
