What is the beste interface hardware (for transfer program) to make communicatie with PLC:
-USB to DP/MPI PC Adapter "6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0
-RS232 tot MPI
Can this also monitoring the states of access nodes (with DP adress) as "PC/PG interface"?

Both of them are usable... the first "USB to DP/MPI PC Adapter" is better..
I am using CP 5711 + MPI/PROFIBUS cable, 6GK1571-1AM00 with Kit Adapter CP 5711, 6GK1571-1AA00-0AH0 and it works fine with both Windows OS(XP & 7 ) with Step7 installed with a better speed 12Mb/s on DP.
But it's possible that CP5711 not to work with MicroWin see...

When you Set PC/PG Interface in Step7 you can see the accessible nodes ..Diagnostics...and Test...See Accessile Nodes...
Don't forget that these modules are intended only for transfering programs on the CPUs. If you intend to supervise and monitoring the nodes in natural functionning in a PROFIBUS/PROFINET network after downloading the program, you must use other CPs ...

Thanks for your quick advice.

Indeed, Siemens currently two types of adapters:

-The PC adapter: 6ES7 972 0CB20 0XA0 for 300 euros.
-The CP5711 kit: 6GK1571-1AA00-1AH0 for 675 euros!

Siemens announces that the only difference is that the CP5711 provides better diagnostics!

My situation is:
I have a Dell laptop 4200ATG, with Windows 7, 32-bit mode with XP-mode! So the all Simatic manager + WinCC Flex are installed in the virtual environment (a virtual XP SP3).

Cause the price difference can I build a working connection with the cheap PC adapter 6ES7 972 0CB20 0XA0?

Can you help me with finding the correct firmware / driver for this PC adapter?

Through Siemens website I downloaded this driver: PC_AD_USB_V12, but unfortunately it does not work with the PC adapter V1.3?
