Yesterday machine was running production normally on site, after some hours running the machine stops and the HMI and all other periferics loose the connection with the PLC (840d sl + 317F CPU),
we have try restart the machine without success. (power off/on)
In the NCU led is showing ready and stop (flashing), the reset P.O from the HMI is not helpful, nothing changes at this time. (see attached)
It’s strange that is no possible get online withsimaticS7, Did you ever faced it before? Is there any way to back the PLC in run model
I thought the problem in the plant switch, but also a connection direct in the NCU interface is no possible.
Seems is possible ping the PLC, but no possible any connection to programing or diagnosis.
In the HMI you can just see the connection fault with the NCK, PLC, etc.…
Please, any ideas will be welcome. |

Hi Guys,
I got it running, i was gotting fault 6 ( PLC in stop mode and dont restart)
Solution for me:
PLC was in stop mode and no way to coonect using any ports, including the MPI/DP. I was able to ping the plc address 192.168.214.1, but the controler was in stop mode and use the ARC files was also not a possibilitty.
in the end we reset the PLC using the IBN switch in front of the PLC. (reset mode). See below Step by Step.
!!!!!!!!_PLC master reset_!!!!!!!!
►Set IBN switch S4 to position '2" (STOP)
► The "PS" LED lights up.
► Set IBN switch S4 to position "3" WIRES) and hold for 3 seconds.
► The "PS" LED goes out and on again.
► Within 3 seconds, set IBN switch S4 to "2", then to "3", and then back to "2". ID. The "PS" LED blinks at a 2 Hz rate and then shows a steady light.
► Set IBN switch S4 to position "0".
After this process i was able to connect with my laptop, so I just did the download of the backup project, restart the CPU and everything was fine again.
