Hi Folks
Just wondering if anyone out there has some experience with Modicon 340 series PLC?
My issue is this.
Customer has purchased a second machine with a Telemecanique Modicon 340 system + Schneider XBTGT7340 HMI Screen. Finally got power to panel, system boots up but HMI reports it can't connect to PLC.
The system comprises of the following.
CPU P341000 - Slot 0
NOE0100 - Slot 1
AIM0410 - Slot 2 (1 x 4-20ma input)
There is another rack contains various digital I/O cards which connects to the NOE0100 via Ethernet.
The ERR light on the AIM0410 is permanently lit and the manual just states internal fault, which i guess it is screwed.
The CPU & NOE0100 both report "Card Err" so i suspect the memory cards are corrupted. I have removed both cards and connected to CPU with a USB lead using the Unity Pro software.
The software connects to PLC but simply reports the back up card is missing and will not let me doing anything else. Out of curiosity i stuck a spare 1 GB memory card in (i know is is meant to be a Schneider type) and rebooted CPU, the CARD ERR has gone now but the PLC will not allow me to connect reporting back it's Timed Out or PLC is busy. Removing the card allows me to connect but again will not allow me to do anything. Just to mention the I/O ERR lit is also lit/flashing but i guess this is due to the AIM0410 card issue.
My aim is to retrieve PLC program from the CPU and reading the documents/manuals do not reveal anything on these issues, with the above i have a few questions hopefully someone can help me with.
1. Is the PLC program still in the CPU even though the memory card is corrupt?
2. Do i need the correct memory card in to retrieve the program?
3. If the correct card is in can i retrieve the program with the Analog Card issue?
4. Is it possible to retrieve the program without installing a memory card and fixing the Analog card issue? maybe via the mod-bus port?
hopefully someone out there can assist and if so thanks in advance. |

As I know the M340 CPUs use a flash backed RAM. The program is stored in an SD Card and is read off the card.
There is no battery in these processors.
Hope you have the autentic program. |

How to find the amount of free memory in the SD card for the BMXNOE0110.
To see the amount of free memory,
Start Web Desginer.
Open the Web Designer application.
Click on the target name (i.e., BMX NOE 0110 - Target 0 ...)
Click on Target from the top menu.
Click on Site Explorer .
Click on the IP address for the target in the Site Explorer View tab.
The free memory in the SD card will be shown on the bottom left of the site explorer window. |

Thanks guys for your replys.
Kaka - Now i understand why they use the memory cards. Also what web designer software is needed to communicate with the BMXNOE0110?
Well i've been back to site today and got a few steps closer but hit another wall.
It turns out the the company had someone else in before me and it appears the memory cards on the CPU & BMX unit were swapped over. Putting them back in there correct locations fixed the AIM0410 issue, the error light has gone and all lights are green. The green lights are on above the memory cards now as well.
Connected laptop to CPU via USB lead and managed to connect to PLC successfully BUT the Unity Pro comes back with UPLOAD INFO INVALID, and the transfer from PLC to PC in the drop down menu is faded out.
Does anyone know what "UPLOAD INFO INVALID" means and how to fix it or how to get the program off the memory card?
I've spent over an hour searching/googling but no luck.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks again for your replys |

Empty Terminal Support (ETS):
· UPLOAD INFO OK: The upload image matches the project running on the PLC, the upload image is available for upload to a PC.
· UPLOAD INFO INVALID: The upload information does not match the project running on the PLC. The upload information on the PLC can not be uploaded to the PC. To synchronize the PLC project and the upload information, PLC >> Update Upload Information. This can only be done if the connected PC has the autentic project. An ETS connection can not perform the Update Upload Information.
· NO UPLOAD INFO: There is no upload information in the PLC.
For saving memory the guys who originally uploaded avoid supplementary data.
So let me thing how to if you do not have the original project?
make an empty project and put project options not be checked "Upload Information".
see if you can now upload... |

Thanks Kaka for the info, that make sense.
I have to go back to site in a few days and will give it a go. I've also found Unity Loader on Schneiders web site a program to transfer program from PC<>PLC so i'll give that a go as well.
Will let you know how i go.
Cheers again. |
