The Template is a modular project for S7-1500 controllers. Based on the physical tip of ISA-88, a topology is provided, which supports the machine builder by the implementation of the automation program. It offers the basic functionalities for controlling and diagnostics via the standardized operating mode manager OMAC and via standardized interfaces.

The Machine Template with OMAC covers the three relevant levels of the physical model according to ISA-88.

At the Unit level, it uses the standard OMAC manager, provided by the library LPMLV30, which represents the central control of the Unit. The remote interfaces, e.g. HMI, line manager or others, as well as the feedback from lower level modules, are interconnected to a function blocks which collects all relevant data for controlling the Unit Mode State Manager.

The Equipment Module level comprises a processing group of a Unit. It represents a summary of several Control Modules, which can be bundled technologically. This level is therefore strongly dependent on the respective technology of the machine and difficult to represent by a template. In order to build up the Equipment Module as modular as possible, it is divided into a so-called Sequence and several Technical Modules, which are both contained in the project by a template. The Sequence provides a state machine for all operating modes. It thus corresponds to the actual user program. The technical module contains one or more Control Modules which can be technically combined. The Technical Module receives the commands from the sequence and passes them on to the subordinate control modules.
