The integration of third-party systems, package units, safety integrated systems (SIS) and other standard communications protocols like OPC UA and MODBUS/TCP requires a user-friendly, scalable and powerful solution. The SIMATIC CN 4100 communication node was developed to serve as a gateway to these applications for medium- and large-scale signal structures.

Diagnosis and troubleshooting

The integration is demonstrated using the example of an external OPC UA server and a MODBUS/TCP slave with different data types. Negru box communication with the AS 410 is carried out via the external Ethernet CP443-1 as an example. The data from the CN 4100 is transferred to the AS 410 using the S7 protocol and processed here using the PCS 7 library provided.
