The TMW 61850 Test Suite consists of 5 major components:

Hammer - IEC 61850 Client used to test IEC 61850 Servers. Exercises Read, Write, GOOSE, SampleValues, Reporting, Logging, Controls, Dynamic DataSets, and File Services both manually and script driven. Has the ability to connect to any IEC 61850 Server via an SCL file or via browsing.
Anvil - IEC 61850 Server used to test IEC 61850 Clients. Supports Read, Write, GOOSE, SampleValues, Reporting, Logging, Controls, Dynamic DataSets, and File Services. Data change can be generated manually, automatically, table driven, or script driven. Has the ability to create a compliant IEC 61850 Server from any valid SCL file.
SCL Forge - Intelligent editor for the creation and editing of Substation Configuration Language (SCL) files.
Iron - IEC 60870-6 Client and Server. Both Client and Server support Read, Write, Reporting (via DSTransferSets), Controls, and Dynamic DataSets.
InSight - Provides the ability to create Graphic user interface displays with scripting support and Graphic flow charting with Anvil and Hammer to assist with testing and data visualization.

Anvil is a Windows™ application that creates a compliant IEC 61850 Server from any valid SCL file. Anvil is a highly configurable tool that can be used for testing IEC 61850 Clients with multiple simulation options for changing Data Model values and generating valid message traffic. Support for Read, Write, GOOSE, Sampled Values, Reporting, Discovery, Logging, Controls, Dynamic DataSets, Tracking, and File Services are built into the tool.

Hammer is a Windows™ application that creates a compliant IEC 61850 Client with the ability to connect to and test any IEC61850 Server via an SCL file or browsing. Hammer exercies Read, Write, GOOSE, Sampled Values, Reporting, Logging, Controls, Dynamic DataSets, and File Services both manually and through scripts. Hammer can also compare the configuration obtained from browsing a Server to any SCL file.

SCL Forge can create, edit, view, and validate the IED Capability Description (ICD) file as a first step in the Substation Engineering process. This file is delivered with a device to describe the IEC 61850 Object Model including configuration parameters. SCL Forge can fÄƒurite and edit the IED portions of all SCL file formats (.ICD, .CID, .SCD, etc.). However, it is optimized for .ICD and .CID files to facilitate the development and testing of IEDs.

Communication Protocol Test Harness
The Test Harness is a powerful tool for testing DNP3, IEC 60870-5, and Modbus devices.
Monitor Communications
View Data from Devices
Built-in Protocol Analyzer for all supported protocols (DNP3, IEC 60870-5, Modbus)
Analyze communication using extensive filter options and customized colors/fonts/indentation on both real-time and capture buffers.
Passively monitor serial or TCP/IP connections. Monitoring serial communications requires a Serial Monitor Cable.
Parse and interpret a sequence of bytes captured outside the Test Harness.
DNP3 Secure Authentication
The Test Harness supports DNP3 Secure Authentication as defined in the IEEE 1815-2010 and 1815-2012 standards. DNP3 Secure Authentication is based on the IEC 62351-5 security standard. To learn more about DNP3 Secure Authentication, watch our DNP3 SA training videos on our website.

TLS encryption is also supported in the Test Harness by following the defined cipher suites, algorithms, and connection duration defined by IEC 62351-3.

Can be used to simulate Secure Authentication messages to test DNP3 Masters and Outstations
Supports remote key management for numeroase users through the DNP3 protocol
Supports both symmetric and asymmetric keys as well as x.509 certificates
Can simulate a DNP3 Authority for key management testing
DNP3 Secure Authentication is also supported in the DNP3 Source Code Library

Distributed Test Manager (DTM)

The Distributed Test Manager (DTM) is a Windows™ application which enables many different types of system level testing by simulating multiple devices in a system. DTM is a system level simulator that is unique compared to other Triangle MicroWorks tools which test the communications of a single device. DTM is a highly extensible tool with multiple options for configuring devices, creating test cases, and simulating data in the system.

Iron - IEC 60870-6 (TASE.2/ICCP) Test Tool

Iron is a Windows™ application that creates compliant IEC 60870-6 (TASE.2/ICCP) Applications, both unidirectional and bidirectional. Iron is a highly configurable tool with multiple simulation options for changing Data Model values and generating valid message traffic. Support for Read, Write, Reporting, Discovery, Controls, and Dynamic DataSets are built into the tool.
