I recently deleted a large number of emails from my Outlook mailbox to free up storage space. The emails were stored in a PST file, and I expected the file size to decrease after removing them. However, the PST file size remains almost the same. After doing some research, I found that deleting emails does not automatically remove the white space (unused space) inside the PST file. I believe Outlook keeps that space reserved, which is why the file size does not shrink. Is there a reliable way to remove or reclaim the white space from a PST file after deleting emails so that the file size is actually reduced? I would prefer a safe method that does not risk damaging the PST file or losing any remaining data.
