For those not up to programming, there is also a Labview product:
EtherCAT Datalogger, from Ackermann Automation
that works with any EtherCAT modules such as Beckhoff's or NI's C-modules in their 9144 expansion chassis.
It doesn't require the LabView developer's suite. |

|
|
Messages in the logger window have a Timestamp value that is different from the Windows clock.
This makes it difficult to find a special event in a Wireshark capture which uses the Windows clock times.
If the Tcat Timestamp was the same as Windows, debugging with Wireshark would be faster and easier.
Infosystem doesn't tell enough about the Timestamp to know if there's a way to make it use Windows times.
Is this possible? |

The NT_SetTimeToRTCTime is not do what you want?
http://infosys.beckhoff.com/content/1033/tcplclibutilities/html/TcPlcLibUtilities_NT_SetTimeToRTCTime.htm
A few years ago I also struggled with Windows clock slippage due to real time kernel taking precedence over Windows clock update.
Take a look to TwinCAT time sources

|
|
Hi, does anyone encounter TwinCAT manager frozen after running for a few hours in a Windows 7 Dell Vostro PC?
I uses the new Dell Vostro PCs with Windows 7 Professional.
Frequently, we encounter that if we left TwinCAT in RUN mode for some hours, TWINCAT manager stopped updating the values from the BK9000.
We've been troubleshooting for months, with Beckhoff support's help, but so far we haven't find a good solution.
Any help is appreciated. |

Is this specific to the Dell Vostro? We are still running WinXP.
Some coworkers who tried Win7 at home said they had many driver issues and other "things don't work",
so ..go reverted back to WinXP.
With a system containing a Beckhoff CX1020 w/ EtherCAT and a BK9000 for K-bus that has run fine for >1 year using WinXPE. |
