|
|
How do you operate and parameterize the MV420/MV440 code reading system directly on a SIMATIC S7-CPU using PROFINET without an interface module?

Description
This FAQ response describes the settings required in the reader device and in the TIA Portal if you want to operate a reader device via PROFINET IO using the blocks of the "SIMATIC Ident" library. In addition, attached is a sample project for this topic.
Requirements
TIA Portal V13 SP1
SIMATIC MV420 / MV440 firmware V5.1 or higher
SIMATIC S7-1500 CPU firmware V1.1 or higher
SIMATIC S7-1200 CPU firmware V4.0 or higher
SIMATIC S7-300/400 CPU with PROFINET connection
Browser with Java VM plug-in
Instructions
1. Settings in the web interface of the reader device
1. Check the firmware version of the reader device and if necessary, upgrade the firmware to version V5.1 or higher. The firmware update version V5.1 is available in
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/attachments/74444490/MV4xx_V05_01_00_02.zip
2. In the web interface of the reader device you select "PROFINET (Ident profile)" for the IP mode and under "PROFINET IO > Device name:" you enter a device name (mv440, for example).
3. Switch to the "Integration" tab and select the settings for "PROFINET IO" as shown in the figure below.
4. Create a program with the number 1 (call parameter for PROGRAM in the application, for the "RESET_MV" block).
5. Switch to the "RUN" tab and start the evaluation.
2. Programming in the TIA Portal
1. Copy the required blocks (Reset_MV, Read, Write) from the instruction library into your project tree and compile the project.
2. Go to the "Network view" of the TIA Portal and add the reader device, configure the PROFINET connection and enter the connection parameters (device name from Fig. 01) and the IP address in the Properties of the reader device.
3. Determine the values for IO address and "Hardware identifier" (Fig. 06) and enter this in the Connect DB data base created (Fig. 07).
4. Call the function blocks required, in OB1, for example, and parameterize them as shown in the following figure.
5. Compile the project and load it into your S7 CPU.
6. In the sample program attached to this FAQ response you use the monitoring table created to check the functions of the block.
3. Comments on the "SIMATIC Ident" blocks
3.1 Blocks
3.1.1 "Reset_MV"
The "Reset_MV" function block has no specific input parameters. To reset the reader device you call the FB and run the "EXECUTE" parameter.
If you use a program number (for program change, for example) greater than 0, any set DISA bit is reset.
3.1.2 "Read"
The "Read" block reads once the read result string of the camera and makes it available in the "IDENT_DATA" buffer. The physical address (0) and the length of the result string "LEN_DATA" are transferred by the corresponding parameters. The maximum data length is limited to 1024 bytes (bytes 1 and 2 are the length of the result string + 1022 bytes of data from byte 3 onwards).
3.1.3 "Write"
The "Write" block writes the data once from the "IDENT_DATA" buffer to the camera. In this example this block is used to set the DISA bit (IDENT_DATA = 05hex) or reset the DISA bit (IDENT_DATA = 06hex).
3.2 FB error messages
An error state is always given in the Ident instructions when ERROR = TRUE is set at the output parameter. The evaluation of the error can then take place through the STATUS output parameter.

The download includes a sample project in which the settings described above are made.
Copy the project into a separate directory. You can then use the STEP 7 TIA Portal V13 SP1 to open and process the extracted project data.
