How are HART field devices installed in the HW Config?

1.- Insert a PROFIBUS DP interface module
Select the relevant DP interface module in the hardware catalog and move it to the required PROFIBUS DP segment (drag and drop it, for instance).

2.- Insert a SIMATIC HART analog module
Select the relevant SIMATIC HART interface module in the hardware catalog and place it in the matching slot in the DP interface module (by drag and drop, for instance). If no more interface modules or modules are configured in the HW Config, you can compile the changes and download them into the automation system.

Note
The HART function must be enabled for HART communication. For this you mark the analog input module and in the pop-up menu you select "Object Properties...". Switch to the "Inputs" tab and check whether the HART function is enabled for the channel concerned.

3.-Insert a "HART field device" module
Add the entry for the inserted HART analog module to the hardware catalog and insert the "HART field device" module into the matching slot of the SIMATIC HART analog module (by drag and drop, for instance).

In the Select Hardware tree you select the required HART device and click "OK" to confirm.
Note
The "Hardware Identification" function identifies the device connected to the module with established connection. The requirement is that the changed hardware configuration has already be downloaded to the automation system. You do not have to download the automation system to add or delete HART field devices.

5.- Device parameters in SIMATIC PDM
In SIMATIC PDM you can set the parameters for the field device and assign a unique name (TAG) for the device.

Save the changes via the menu entries "File > Save" and close SIMATIC PDM via the menu entries "File > Close".

Note
If the device is already pre-parameterized, these parameters can be read out of the device with an established connection via the menu entries "Device > Upload to PG/PC...".

6.- Change the measuring point designation
In the HW Config you mark the HART field device module and in the pop-up menu you select "Object Properties". Assign a unique name in the Properties window and apply the change with the "OK" button.

Note
With SIMATIC PCS 7 V8.0 SP1 and higher HART is supported via PROFINET, which means you can configure HART field devices on a PROFINET interface module using the described procedure.
