Hello there,
Firstly I would to thank you all for the work you are doing in here.

The company im working for wants to acquire the new STEP 7 TIA portal v12 and The WinCC. The STEP 7 is gonna be the professional one for its options to also work with S7-300. The problem comes with the right WinCC version.

- We will do the scada to be runned in one single station. I have read that both the advanced and professional version can perform the scada for a single station. So i was thinking about the Advance version.

- Do they both (engineering package) come with runtime? could we operate the plant without buying the runtime package?.
In the quotation they sent me, the professional runtime 512 power tags is more expensive than the stil Software so if we can operate the plant without buying any runtime, just with the engineering software, it would be great.

- The company is starting to do its automation designs, therefore What do you think about Siemens technical support? I have read on the website that they also do the commissioning, anybody here has any bad opinion about that service?

Best Regards and Thank you in advance,

José

Why you need to buy V12 because I heard it's not a finished product.
Step7 5.5 and WinCC Flexible maybe is cheaper....

Thank you for your answer,

They point is that the new PLC s7-120 costs less than 300€ and I have heard that I need Tia portal v11 or 12 to program it.

They offered me these software packages:

- WinCC professional v12 512 powertags: 1900€
- Runtime WinCC professional v12 512 powertags: 2900€

If with the WinCC professional (with 512 power tags) I can run the runtime and operate the plant. Why should I buy the runtime that is damn expensive?

What is the difference with the Advance version if we want the Scada for one single station? Could I operate just with the engineering package?

Thank you in advance

Hello Keops,
1. First of all you need to make an estimation of the number of the tags that shall be used.
2. You need to buy both ..it's supposed you have to have the tool to develop the program and also the necessary tags for run-time.
3. If you want to use only S7-1200 with a limited number of tags you can use Step7 Basic V10.5 SP2 which have WinCCBasic but works only with some HMI Panels and is free...Search on SIEMENS pages v10.5..
4. It's not clear from you what do you intend to use..HMI Panels or PC with HMI..
5. What is your distributor because the price seems to be too high...
6. Do you have on your company the specialists for programming and putting into operation..?
It depends a lot about the application you intend to develop...
If you can give more details here OK if not you can put details on PM and I'll help you...
Example for V11:
6AV2103-2AD01-0AC5
SIMATIC WINCC PROFESSIONAL POWERPACK WINCC ADVANCED -> WINCC PROFESSIONAL 512 POWERTAGS V11 (NO CHANGE OF VERSION) ENGINEERING-SW,FLOATING LICENSE SW AND DOCUMENTATION ON DVD, LICENSE KEY ON USB STICK, CLASS A
250 EUR

6AV2104-2BD01-0BD0
SIMATIC WINCC RUNTIME ADVANCED POWERPACK 128 POWERTAGS -> 512 POWERTAGS V11 (NO CHANGE OF VERSION) RUNTIME-SW, SINGLE LICENSE WITHOUT SW AND DOCU. LICENSE KEY ON USB STICK, CLASS A
900 EUR
of course without VAT (Value Added Tax)

Thank you a lot for your answer.

Ive been programing with the step7 professional 2010, s7-300 but I haven't touch the TIA Portal. I´m working in Thailand for a company that designs BIogas plants and they want me to start with the automation estetică (something that i have never done for a real project). The next project has to be done in 6 months so I have time to catch up with the technology.

1-I cant estimate the number of powertags yet coss i dont have the information of the program they want yet. Right now i have to get the designing software and train with it.

2- The thing is that the designing Advance software doesnt come with power tags, as the professional does, so i was wonderin if for the simulation with plcsim and also with a real plc we will also need to acquire power tags for the designing software (WinCC Advance + Power tags).

3- The PLCs we will use are s7-1200 and S7-300 so i already have the quotation for the TIA portal professional which allows me to work with both.

4- We need to program HMI for PC single stations so I think the WinCC Advance and Advance runtime will meet our requirements

5- The quotation comes from Siemens Thailand.

Thank you again for you help I REALLY NEED IT Smile

If you are using S7 300 why is necessary to use also a S7-1200?
With S7-300 you can use a lot of Inputs and Outputs.
Do you have any license for WinCC 7.0..?
For more information search CA01 2012 on forum...
If you need help in programming I can help you....
