Hey Guys, I am new here and in Automation industry. I am a student and I was given an assignment by my teacher. But I find difficulty solving it so I am requesting if you anyone can give some clues, ideas and solution for the assignment.
here is the assignment

I would be glad to have your response. _________________ What the hell, what the fuck...I just play Heavy Rock !! |

No matter what PLC are you using???
SIEMENS is OK? |

yeah, i just need the logic and boolean functions for it. It would be great for AB PlCs, but Siemens is also okey ! _________________ What the hell, what the fuck...I just play Heavy Rock !! |

hello raizor89,
I had a similar project ... an Application Note for learning SIEMENS PLCs few years ago ...and for helping you I put here a template on how your project have to look like..of course if you like this...
It's not complete, it's just guidelines..you have to complete with your add on .....titles of chapters..etc., etc....
https://rapidshare.com/files/3857659034/Application_Note_Oil_Burner.doc
If you use a SIEMENS PLC then you must complete an order ..something like that...
https://rapidshare.com/files/722837387/OilBurner1.xls
You can use SIEMENS Catalog CA-01 downloading from..
http://plc.myforum.ro/ca-01-2010-dvd-vt90.html
If you have STEP7 then you must take a look on how some library is used.. just for be aware about programming...
https://rapidshare.com/files/2938121298/oscat_basic_332_s7.zip
Download STEP7 on...
http://plc.myforum.ro/step7-professional-2010-sp1-sr1-32-64-bit-vt360.html
and install .....
Regarding the effective programming of this Oil Burner .... I'll put you a project in STEP7 in Ladder because it's easier to use... but wait a little....
For logic programming you can make in pseudo-Pascal (natural language ..) ...or a flow diagram for better understanding ...something like...
Initiate variables....
If(TS2_preheater_temp=FALSE)
then {
MOTOR_ON=TRUE;
VALVE_ON=TRUE;
etc.....etc......
};
You must learn in a normal way every step of the program and what it does...
Good luck.... |

Thank you very much, I am installing STEP 7 at the moment, will be waiting for the ladder diagram ! _________________ What the hell, what the fuck...I just play Heavy Rock !! |

Hello raizor89,
You have here a little program that emulate your Oil Burner's electronic unit on a SIEMENS PLC.
The conception of every PLC program must follow the following steps:
Use a FB or FC for timing signals in your program.
In this case is used the FB600 with instanceDB DB600 called in OB1 for having all the
timings you can use in the programm.
The Function FC1 has a shared DB where you have all the variables used in programming.
It's very useful to use sharedDB because when you debugging the program is very easy to put online this DB and have the states of all signals used in programming..
The program was intentionally solved step by step in ladder for better understanding.
When your progress in programming will be at a higher level you'll see there are some rapidly ways for making this kind of programs (STL as example) but in this stage I believe it's better to start in ladder.
The program is not tested thoroughly so it is possible for mistakes to appear but as a rule it must flow like this:
1. Use Set/Reset flip/flop for entering into PLC all the electromechanical contacts.
This is to avoid all inherent flickering of electromechanical contacts when opening or closing.
2.If one condition is satisfied (TRUE) then jump (JMP) to a segment of programm that treating that program's sequence.
If condition is not satisfied (FALSE) the program will flow with the next instruction after (JMP).
3.Process the entire program with all the data from shared DB.
4, you can setup from delay timer the preheating duration, how long the impulse for start ignition should be, delay between impulses in such a manner for not overcharging the ignition device..
5.After you are processing all the necessary signals... then put the OUTPUTS from DB to the OUTPUTS of the PLC.
6. The RESET BUTTON will cut all the processing signals...and put on START the Burner.
Hope you have here a little clue on how to start programming...for this Oil Burner.
Again, this program is not tested thoroughly because I had a little time for that..
This is your job for graduating project.
If there are misunderstandings I'll help you...
Good luck.

Hello raizor,
You have here a improved version of OilBurner but not thoroughly tested..
Hope you installed Step7 and PLCSim...
Download OilBurner_V1:
https://rapidshare.com/files/1270893036/OilBurner_V1.rar
Start PLCSim....
..and SetPG?PC Interface on PLCSIM(MPI)...
Go online....
See Symbol Editor..
DBShared FC1
InstanceDB DB600..
If a have a little time next week I'll refine the programm.. |

Here you have a new variant tested 90%.....
I think it must be put this project on a WinCCFlexible HMI because there are a lot of transient times which is difficult to follow ...

Did you install Step7...??? |

Hi, Yes, I have already installed step 7, it was not running for while because of license issue but later i checked the forum and found a guide to install Simatic_EKB, I don't know how safe it is do that tweak but it worked for me to run the project. I checked that you have done all the programming with great effort and its perfect. But I am not much used with this software and there are many things which I can't understand. But anyway i am trying to make the basic flow diagram for the operation. and I hope I can uderstand the ladder logic as well.
Thank you so much for your efforts. Cheers and have a good time _________________ What the hell, what the fuck...I just play Heavy Rock !! |

raizor89,
For testing I put on WinCCFlexible a HMI Touch Screen.
Remember to instal Step7, WinCCFlexible SP2 and Simatic Net otherwise you can't start the simulation.
If you want to have a liberty in testing all kind of programs you must install first Step7 5.5 SP2 then De lux Studio 2009 with WinCC Flexible, update to WinCCFlexible SP2 and eventually PCS7 SP3 for having the last (on WinXP) Simatic Net.
Download the project here:
https://rapidshare.com/files/2005455505/OilBurner_V2.rar
You have here a little movie with testing with WinCCFlexible but I don't know why my microphone did not functioning..
Anyway you can at least see the order of operations...

wow, thanks so much messer, I am very much thankfull for the effort. I havent installed the winccflexible but will do very soon. Anyway now I can understand the Ladder Diagram much better and its really wonderfull. THanks so much ! |

This is a new version with a little modification...
The Start Boiler and Reset Button must work correctly...
