Fan Speed Control for SIMOTICS M-1PH8

The Fan Speed Control for SIMOTICS M-1PH8 calculates the fan speed (50%...100% of rated speed), which corresponds to current motor temperature.
The SIMOTICS M-1PH8 motors in shaft height 180 and 225 are equipped with fans based on EC technology. The external fan provides the possibility for speed control via a control signal. In the as-delivered state the fan is operated constantly with 100 % speed (reference speed) after a run-up time of approx. 20 seconds.
Using an analog input of the fan's terminal box the speed value can be set between 50 % and 100 % of the specified rated speed. It's not possible to set a lower speed value than 50 % of the rated speed, as a basic cooling has to be ensured.
This application example describes the drive based realization of the fan speed control.
