Setting up IO redundancy with the ET 200SP HA in STEP 7
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109817312/
This application example describes how to configure IO redundancy with the SIMATIC ET 200SP HA in STEP 7. You will learn about the hardware setup, the hardware configuration, and project engineering in STEP 7.
The purpose fault-tolerant and system-redundant programmable controllers is to reduce production downtimes, regardless of whether the failures are caused by an error/fault or are due to maintenance work.

Hardware setup
To use IO redundancy, two identical and redundancy-capable IO modules must be inserted in a redundancy terminal block. In addition, you must engineer both modules in the hardware configuration and enable the redundancy feature in the module properties. The IO modules must have the same hardware version and the same firmware version

Operating the SIMATIC ET 200SP HA with STEP 7
The full range of functions of the SIMATIC ET 200SP HA can only be implemented in conjunction with a CPU 410 from V8.2 onwards and STEP 7 V5.6 or later.

Engineering IO redundancy in STEP 7
Side-by-side IO redundancy for non-failsafe modules (DI/DO/AI/AO) can be implemented by using the quality information bit (QI bit). This flows together with all process values straight to the process image for both modules.
Implement logic that continuously check the QI bit of the left-hand (primary) module.
