I want get data like IA,IB,IC.......MWh from sel351s relay as slave to yokogawa dcs (centum vp) via Modbus RTU. I connected online with sel-351s relay and I did not find the Modbus protocol only I found SEL,DNP,MBB....., I had that you can set any serial interface of that relay to any protocol like sel, dnp, mbb,mb ..... using command line. I did try to set EIA-485 to use Modbus RTU doing things like this: Login on command line with level 2 and write the command:
=>> SET P 1 end press enter is accept and is give the protocol list (SEL,DNP,MB,MBB,MB8B ..) but there is no the Modbus, I force to set MOD is showing message: Out of range!!
Could you help how to enable the Modbus RTU protocol at SEL-351s serial port EIA-485 to use Modbus Protocol???? |

What exactly relay do you have ..meaning options??
What acSELerator Version do you use for parameterization? |

Hi KEKE, there is the firmware version and the accelerator but I am not succeed to upload the image.
AcSELerator QuickSet 6.1.3.2
Firmware version (Part Number: 0351s 6**4**8*21 according to Divice Part Number) or using command line: FID=SEL-351S-6-R400-V0-Z008006-D20070117.
I would like to post the image screen but I fail to do that, but please keep help to get the solution.

For connecting directly to SCADA you have to use PORT5 ETHERNET MODBUS
For using SEL, DNP ..you have to use a Communication Processor like..
which setup communication parameters automatically..
In fact what is your communication schematic ? |

Hi keke, sorry to keep asking I understand you point .
If you see in the AcSELerator QuickSet picture you post there is the Modbus User Map but at my when I go online with the relay I can not find that Modbus User Map so in that case the question is come: How can I get this
Modbus User Map or Modbus protocol when you expand some port? Is it necessary to enable it? Is there some instruction command to bring up that Modbus protocol? The problem is the firmware version?
I thing to write maybe is not enough I would like to send picture for you.
Please if is possible can you show me how to do that (to post some image)
nice Sunday
thanks |

Use a screen capture like Faststone and save a picture on your PC.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/j95idywh1nvm22q/FS.Capture.v.6.5.rar
Then enter for free on
http://postimg.org
and upload a image and
copy the link
the posting look like..
Coming back to your problem...
The problem is if you have to use a Communication Processor to link to upstream computers.
The selections like MB means Modbus.
Have a nice Sunday too... |

Ok I will follow this and try to post some picture.
thanks
I will try the MB because I was thing that mining Mirrobts protocol and the suffix for Modbus is MOD but any where I will try MB and see what is coming. |

Well ..one is Modbus Protocol and a completely different is DNP3 protocol.
Here are some mappings examples for 351S you can download Stil Template Guides
https://selinc.com/products/351S/
https://selinc.com/literature/design-template-guides/
Unfortunately I did not work with Centum so I cannot detailed on this.
But worked with winCC with some relays from Selinc few years ago...
Here are some examples from Siemens site using DNP3 protocol but with Telecontrol from Siemens if is for any help.
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/87447188/s7-based-telecontrol-via-dnp3-protocol
Probably Yokogawa has something similar....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxcK4KimDSo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jfcW6p5iW8
Try to use Port F and as I said there some examples on Selinc site.
The Basic SEL-351S does not conține MIRRORED BITS or Load Profile. SEL provides enhanced functions in the Standard SEL-351S but I see this is your selection.
Do you have access to selinc site to download templates?
DNP Map settings depend on your protection configuration. |

Hi keke.
thanks for all. I have got permission to download this template guides.
The DNP3 is all ready configured and mapped from the gay that done the all installation and there is the SCADA at the Substation.
We need to get the MWH for morning energy report using EXAQUANTUM Historical Data so that we have to link this relay to CENTUM VP.
We are preferring to use the Modbus because is all ready in the DCS side and configured.
The MBA,MBB,MB8A and MB8B is Mirrored Bits version in the sel-351s is support that protocol because we try to set it at the port 1 as test.
But we need to use the Modbus. If we try MB or MOD to set port 1 as an example is show message like this:
So if is not possible to use that we will get other option to config the serial 485 to use DNP3 and we will buy the protocol converter DNP/MODBUS but we would like to use the Modbus to save money. |

Hi keke;
I want say thanks all and everything you done for me.
I asked the selinc.com support engineer and he return for me this message:
" The relay you have is a Legacy SEL-351S and it does not support Modbus protocol.
This si why you are not able to set it on the port or in the relay settings.
Please see the attached document comparing the Legacy (older) version of the SEL-351S to the new SEL-351S. "
We are using the legancy SEL-351S Famely
In that case we will use the DNP3 and we will converter to Modbus.
Thanks |
