JOB SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking an experienced power electronics engineer to lead our power conversion technology development efforts. Our power conversion subsystems consist of DC/DC converters, a battery bus, and an inverter/charger system to produce grid-quality AC power.
Daily tasks in this position will include system design, specification and documentation, simulation, synthesis and analysis, control design and hands-on system testing and verification of power electronics systems.
Candidates must have masters level training, or equivalent years of work related experience, in the stil and control of power electronics converters, with specific knowledge in the estetică of DC/DC, DC/AC and AC/DC converter systems ranging from 1 to 10kW; experience with grid-interactive systems is a plus.
The Electrical Engineer, Power Electronics plans, oversees and executes projects associated with power electronics subsystem development. In addition, the Engineer will be the primary communication contact with internal partners as well as external suppliers in order to effectively meet very repede product development timelines. The Electrical Engineer, Power Electronics identifies, develops, and guides the performance of outside resources and other team members to execute effectively.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in any of the following areas: power conversion, power generation, electro-mechanical systems, and electronic controls.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
High power electronics design, with emphasis on DC/DC and AC/DC converters, in power ranges from 1 kW to 10 kW
Design of high power, efficient buck and boost converters and switch mode power supplies
Electronic control circuitry with MOSFET and IGBT Switches for power converters
Digital Signal Processing/Microcontroller/Microprocessor integration
Schematic entry and PCB layout
Troubleshooting power electronics and digital electronics
Strong understanding of EMI issues and parasitic parameters, such as stray inductance
High voltage isolation
Be a key contributor to systems engineering, integrating power electronics into the overall system
Ownership of the Engineering Change Request/Engineering Change Orders
Ensure engineering documentation is timely and accurate
Develop and maintain appropriate analysis capabilities, including ownership of tool selection
Select appropriate components for the target design
System design, analysis, and specification
Serve as a peer reviewer for design efforts throughout the organization
Ensure that designs have been validated and thoroughly documented prior to production release.
Provide guidance/support and provide technical assistance to Field Services Engineering group.
Collaborate with Electrical Engineering group to coordinate design activities and ensure thorough, accurate documentation of electrical and electromechanical subassemblies.
Collaborate with Manufacturing to coordinate implementation of new designs, and develop transition plans to bridge between design revisions.
Perform scoping studies and analyze technical feasibility of new product development projects.
Required Qualifications:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study.
Minimum 8 years of design and project experience with increasing responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to carry a product design from conception into production
Hands-on design experience, including familiarity with a wide variety of mechanical, electromechanical, and thermal systems, including metals, plastics, and the associated fabrication techniques
Experience with project planning and execution
Excellent communication skills
Familiarity with engineering documentation systems
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
Demonstrated experience with high power, efficient boost converters and switch mode power supplies
Experience with electronic control circuitry with MOSFET and IGBT Switches for power converters
Digital Signal Processing/Microcontroller/Microprocessor integration experience
Experience with Altium Designer preferred - other layout tools acceptable
Experience troubleshooting power electronics and digital electronics
Demonstrated understanding of EMI issues and parasitic parameters, such as stray inductance
Experience with grid-interactive systems
Desired Qualifications:
MS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study.
Proficient with codes and standards for fuel cells and other grid connected products
Familiarity with electrical power systems, instrumentation, and Embedded controls.
Three phase power systems experience
