Some of ELAU SM servo motors utilize SICK STEGMANN encoders of type SRM50. My SM motor had a defective SRM50 and I bought a new one from SICK. I assume new encoders are always data-free and need to be programmed according to defective or other healthy encoders which already is working in factory line. So I looked for programming tool of SICK for SRM50 encoders and of course SOPAS ET software. But more I tried to program the new one, more I disappointed, because the HEX file of the new one never match the old one, and doesn't recognize in ElAU SERCOS topology (along with C400 controller and MC-4). (The topology is complete because other ELAU SM motors recognizable.) Any idea? Could it be done just by ELAU Auto-Tuning?

Regards
Badil

P.S. In programming the new encoders, I export the *.sdv file from old or healthy encoder and then importing it to the new one.

I found that ELAU put an electronic nameplate on their motors so could be easily recognized by ELAU controllers, Does it like an electronic signature so nobody can copy it to a row encoder?

You need sVip PGT-11-S Hiperface with accesories

Dear CNC800
Thanks for replaying.
I have PGT-11, abnd I checked your precious links. The question was is that possible to put an electronic nameplate on an encoder just by PGT-11 programming tool? I think you mean this can be done by creating data field on row encoder just as the old one? AM I right?

P.S. Do you know about "ELAU AUTO TUNE"? Is it a independent software or a project running under EPAS-4?

Is it possible that the new version of SOPAS ET have some problem with SRM50 or SRS50 types?

And one more question; Product information of SRM50 (along with SRS50) pages 18&19 declares some commands and their functions like 42h: Read Position, or 4Ah: Read data, or 4Bh: Store data etc ... Do you know How can I execute these commands on encoder? Is it possible in SOPAS ET software environment? If yes Which part of it? Do you have any experience?

The SOPAS user manual have nothing about these?

The AutoTune tool is available free of charge to PacDrive users to calculate the inertial load seen by individual axes

This has nothing to do with parameterizing of your encoder.
Please follow the link to Youtube and do parameterizing of the encoder.
Then apply autotune for optimization.

Dear CNC800
You can't fotografie how much I appreciate fo your tips.
Because I have been corresponding with SICK for a long time and the never replied me.
Actually your last tip about ELAU AUTO TUNE was very valuable for me.
The links you have sent before was helpful too, although I've seen more of them before.
Now please stay with me and help me to find some answers:
1. The youtube link said you can make data field, but making data field needs password and nowhere in the manuals said about this password. fortheremore how can I load data field on this section?
2. Is this necessary for reading an encoder to give "55" to code0? basically is that necessary to login with a certain user level to reading the encoder data? (for you information I used to login as Authorized client from the manual), and is the export *.sdv file of an encoder is the only way to read parameters? Is it normal that my *.sdv file always have a same 22KB size?
3. What is SSP Datei, what is the use of it, and how can I execut it?
4. What I figured out from you last post is that the parametrizing via PGT-11 is enough and motor need no tuning after this? Is that right? Does MC-4 controller do the other works?
Thanks in advance.
Please stay with me.
Your sincerely
James Ross

Yesterday I connect my ELAU SM motors to an Indramat HCS02 drive (universal single axis model) to see if the commutation is possible via Indramat drive.

The result was awful; My SM motors apparently lost its EEPROM (The diag code 117), Cause the ELAU pacdrive system doesn't recognize it anymore.

I tried to reprogram it according to healthy encoders via PGT-11, and although the procedure of programming goes right (apparently), the pacdrive system does not recognize it.

Could it be from fault steps of programming?
