Hi all.
I have some questions about using EKB install to activate Siemens Software.
-Is it legal? I think this is a stupid question because it is essensialy a cracking/piracy tool?
-I gues the tool is just "generating" licenses, how it is so easy to do so? And siemens doesn't do something about it? Only days after new Tia portal release, a new EKB version is online again with the new keys...
-I see on the forum a lot of people are using it like it is their standard activation tool, is the only reason to not buy the license the financial profit?
-Is there any legal risk of getting caught and be fined for piracy?
-Is there a piracy check in the license manager of siemens wich informs Siemens you are using a piracy license?

Putting such a question it seems that the natural answer is "not legal" of course....
But... digging more on that subject I believe that the only way to promote on a large scale the product of a company is the existence of such forum.
The main purpose of such a forum is learning purpose as a user said and that is the true...
For learning on such software is not sufficient to follow a course and that's it..
It needs years of study and making yourself programs for "feeling" such a software takes time and time and..time..
There is not any company in the world to take you from the "ground" for making you an expert programmer on PLCs because of costs and other limitations....
These keys are only for prolongation of the trial period for different products for extended period of learning for every student ..
More than that there also some considerations to make:
1. Most of the countries >85% in the world has strictly regulations regarding the use of licenses of the software.
So taking this into considerations I do not believe that any company has the willing to use non licensed software otherwise being subject of a substantial fine.
2. Regardless other software products the PLC software is strictly tied to the hardware.
So you cannot use this software if you do not buy the respective PLCs from the respective manufacturer. The more engineers are trained on a software the more selling will have that company.
3. For having trained engineers on their software the companies must pay substantial amount of money and even so there are a lack of PLC software engineers on the market. This is an easier way for learning even for a student who can "feel" the software and it's a potential best promoter of the products of the respective company products he is trained by himself. This is a very, very important asset for selling products of a manufacturer which has engineers to use this software.
4.Suppose you become an automation engineer in a company. If the development director ask you for a brand of Automation for modernizing an industrial process ...what do you recommend..of course the brand that you are aware about Automation Capabilities.
How do you get to know the capabilities of an Automation System..?? ..of course if you worked a little bit with these Automation Software..
So looking at the big picture..it's a strategic advantage to have more and more engineers which are learning that software...
Pushing the comparison further..this forum makes the difference between the experience of an instructed soldier and the experience of a soldier which have been participated on a battleground ..
On this forum we encourage users to use these softwares strictly for learning..
So do not throw with stones before you deeply understand the scope of such a forum.
It's only for learning and most of the users understood that correctly... |
