EC-Engineer is a tool for configuring and diagnosing EtherCAT networks. The integrated Windows EtherCAT master can automatically detect the connected EtherCAT slaves by means of a scan function. Based on the ESI (EtherCAT Slave Information) files and other parameters that the user can select, the EC-Engineer generates the configuration for the EtherCAT master, the so-called ENI (EtherCAT
Network Information) file. This feature is not included in the Free Edition. The content and format of the ESI and ENI files are part of the EtherCAT specification. Further information is available on the website of the EtherCAT Technology Group User Organization www.ethercat.org.
