General Purpose Platform is built on the industry-leading real-time operating system (RTOS), VxWorks 6.9, and includes integrated networking and run-time technologies. The latest edition of VxWorks is backward-compatible with earlier versions, allowing customers to leverage existing and legacy software assets. Multiprocessing
VxWorks 6.9 offers support for symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) and for asymmetric multiprocessing (AMP) as part of the VxWorks platforms. Debugging Tools for Windows 8 is part of Windows Driver Kit 8 and Software Development Kit for Windows 8.

Windows Driver Kit 8 is not free and is integrated into Visual Studio 2012 Professional, Premium, and Ultimate. So, if you want to compile a "Hello World" driver for Windows 8, you should buy Visual Studio 2012 Professional, Premium or Ultimate.

Debugging Tools for Windows 8 is free and can be downloaded and installed separately.
