The Role:
Water Technologies are currently recruiting a Control Systems Engineer to design software for Memcor product based projects. Memcor products are filtration solutions for drinking water, water reuse, wastewater, desalination pretreatment and industrial process water.The role holder will be involved in the enquiry and execution phase of the project as well as providing support during the commissioning stages. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and engineering software to operate water treatment plants in accordance with client specifications.
Projects will predominantly be for Water Authority clients and will involve liaising with the main contractor in addition to the end user. Some projects may also be based with Industrial customers. The role holder will be expected to work on each project over the period of time and may be required to go on site during commissioning to offer support to the client and commissioning engineer; therefore flexibility to travel is required.
Projects could vary from modifying current software to writing software to provide a client solution.
Job Overview
The role will see the successful applicant working as part of the Engineering EsteticÄƒ Department in the execution of water treatment projects. Under the direction of the Engineering Manager / Senior Control Systems Engineer you will be expected to deliver process control PLC / HMI and SCADA software on time and to the specified requirements.
Principal Tasks and Responsibilities

Provide technical input in the stil of the control system architecture.
Provide technical assistance to the Sales, Projects and Process Departments.
Assist in resolving customer problems and to liaise with the customers with respect to control system issues.
Supporting the initial commissioning of the control system, this may involve site attendance.
Ensure correct interpretation of the contract requirements in the detailed engineering documentation.
Interpret the customer’s technical requirements and become familiar with contract specifications.
Prepare for and undertake Factory Acceptance Tests with the client on the software programs.
Maintain and continually develop the “in house” Standard Functions Library.
Knowledge & Experience:
We are looking for an experienced software engineer capable of writing software in line with technical specifications. Applicants should have experience in the production of PLC software and HMI/SCADA applications for process control. Candidates do not need to have experience of the Memcor product range but a technical knowledge of Siemens S7 300/400, Rockwell ControlLogix, and SLC500 PLC’s, Siemens OP and TP and MP HMI’s, Rockwell PanelView’s, Intouch and iFIX SCADA systems is needed.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the Water Treatment and/or Process Industries and must be capable and experienced in writing software and be able to adapt to different software platforms.
Experience with some, or all, of the following networks would be advantageous; Ethernet, Profibus DP, Profibus PA, Profinet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, DH+.
A minimum HND or a Degree in an Engineering Discipline is essential as is a Process Control Background.
