The Industrial IoT Gateway SIMATIC CloudConnect 7 fulfills two tasks: 1) It queries (reads) defined data points from lower-level stations that understand S7 communication or OPC UA. 2) It sends the data points to diverse cloud plattforms via the protocol MQTT or provides them as an OPC UA server to OPC UA clients.
The application example encompasses the following points:
connect different stations to SIMATIC CloudConnect 716 (SIMATIC CC7) and define data points for each station that SIMATIC CC7 shall query
configure SIMATIC CC7 als OPC UA server that sends the queried data to an OPC UA client (here: UaExpert)
develop an information model with SiOME that determines how SIMATIC CC7 structures the queried data as an OPC UA server
certificate handling
