SIRIUS SIMOCODE pro V MR: Communication with a SIMATIC S7-1200/1500 via MODBUS RTU
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109246623/sirius-simocode-pro-v-mr-communication-with-a-simatic-s7-12001500-via-modbus-rtu
Data records are exchanged via MODBUS RTU between a SIMOCODE pro V MR (slave) and a SIMATIC S7-1200/1500 (master). You will find out how to control a drive that was configured as reversing starter via PLC and read out various data from it and how the appropriate user FB (SCL) is programmed in the controller.
It will be shown how the configuration of a motor management system could look like with MODBUS RTU from the drive and from the controller side. The programming of the controller will be explained on the example of seven data scenarios (use cases).
Use case 1: Controller sends command data to SIMOCODE pro V MR (request by HMI)
Use case 2: Controller receives monitoring data from SIMOCODE pro V MR (cyclic)
Use case 3: Controller receives status messages from SIMOCODE pro V MR (request by HMI)
Use case 4: Controller receives warnings from SIMOCODE pro V MR (for group warnings)
Use case 5: Controller receives faults from SIMOCODE pro V MR (for group fault)
Use case 6: Controller receives measured values from SIMOCODE pro V MR (request by HMI)
Use case 7: Controller receives the energy counter readings from SIMOCODE pro V MR (periodically) and resets them on the device (request by HMI)
Furthermore you will find out how the example that operates a motor feeder, can be expanded to several motors.
The communication port is provided by a communication module (1) on the side of the controller that is added next to the SIMATIC CPU(2). Physically the MODBUS connection is executed by a PROFIBUS cable. In the example, the main circuit is realized by a SIRIUS molded case circuit breaker (5), a SIMOCODE current/voltage measuring module (9) and a SIRIUS reversing contactor combination (10). The SIRIUS digital module (7) on the right next to the basic unit (6) and the operator panel (8) are optional and not mandatory for the MODBUS communication. Configuration, parameterization and programming is done in the TIA Portal with STEP 7 Basic (for S7-1200) or STEP 7 Professional (for S7-1200 or S7-1500) and with SIMOCODE ES. The relevant FB "Simocode" function block uses the system FBs "Modbus_Comm_Load" and "Modbus_Master". Operator control and monitoring is carried out by a SIMATIC Basic Panel KTP700 (3).
The option of connecting the SIMOCODE pro motor management system to an automation system via MODBUS provides you with access to markets in which a serial bus protocol is widely used, such as in North and South America, the growing markets in Asia as well as Southern Europe and also France. Already existing plants that use MODBUS RTU, can be expanded with SIMOCODE pro. The use of SIMOCODE pro V MR lends itself especially to places where a SIEMENS motor management system is to be joint with remote controls that only support MODBUS protocol.
