Hi,

I want to create an application in C # in Visual Studio. In this application I want to collect data sent by a PLC variables CPU13 OMRON CJ1M, and with these data, I want to make a graph. There are several problems:
'I found a way through TCP protocol, but the PLC has no Ethernet port.
I do not see any way of communicating with the PLC Visual Studio, I need an external library and perform communication using code.

Please, if you know any external library to use another protocol (except OPC and TCP) Could you tell me? And where I can download it.

If you can not with C #, I do not care with Visual Basic, but please tell me the code of communication.

Thank for all.

Hello Adriwhite,

I did a similar aplication in visual basic.net to comunicate with PLC CP1L by Omron.

You can use the Host Link Protocol (RS232 - Serial Port) to write or read in memory of PLC.

I have the Host LINK C-commands Manual by Omron.

I you want, I can send for you by email.

Hi Ricardo!

I would like to make the application in C #, but if I have to do it with Visual Basic no problem.

You send me all possible information: documents, archives, libraries, lines of code to Visual Studio, because this is the first time I make a project of this type.

Thank you very much for your information, very friendly. My email account is: a.menchero@grupoalsanbo.com

I hope your email.

Omron PLC Serial Interface
Mahdi Mansouri,
Surpass Omron OCX OPC Component and use a user friendly .NET based class to interface Omron PLC Series
Communication Protocol
Host Computer
In host link communication protocol, the host computer (please note Omron refers to "computer" for its PLC series, please don’t mix up!) has the transition priority, but for the case of peer to peer connection (e.g. you directly connected to a PLC via RS232 physical layer) noting this matter is not very important, but if you’re very sensitive and scrupulous about, due to Omron definition "Data transfer between the host computer and the Host Link System is, therefore, initiated when the computer sends a command to a PC in the Host Link System." (part 3-2, Communication Protocol, page 62), the PC which runs the application assumed as Host Computer.

Sample Programs for Host Link Commands
QBASIC program to communicate with OMRON PLC via a host link command.
This tutorial gives an introduction to Host Link and a sample program to demonstrate the protocol. The sample program has been written to be used in conjunction with the manuals (see reference section below for applicable manuals) to give an insight into what is involved for those wishing to write their own program to communicate with the Host Link protocol.
