Connecting S7 stations via Ethernet and PROFIBUS to SIMATIC CloudConnect 716 and CP 1545-1

The Industrial IoT Gateway SIMATIC CloudConnect 7 enables data to be read simply and reliably from S7-based devices and transfers it to a wide range of cloud platforms using the standardized MQTT protocol. In addition, the data read from subordinate S7 stations using SIMATIC CloudConnect 7 can be made available as OPC UA variables (server).
This application example is divided into two parts.
The first part shows how you can connect several process stations to SIMATIC CloudConnect 716 (SIMATIC CC7) via Industrial Ethernet and via PROFIBUS/MPI. The gateway acts as an OPC UA server and accesses the defined data points cyclically. The variables can then be read and written by any OPC UA client (here UaExpert).
The following communication partners are connected to the SIMATIC CC7:
S7 stations
SIMATIC S7-300 via S7 communication (PROFIBUS)
SIMATIC S7-1200 via S7 communication (Ethernet)
SIMATIC S7-1500 from a lower-level subnet via S7 communication (Ethernet)
OPC UA station: SIMATIC RF360R (including certificate handling)
The second part shows how you can connect several S7 stations to the SIMATIC CloudConnect 716 (CC716) gateway via Industrial Ethernet and PROFIBUS/MPI. Then the connection to an MQTT broker (here Mosquitto) is configured. The S7-1500 with CP 1545-1 is also connected to the MQTT broker. The data points can subsequently be read and written via any MQTT client (here MQTT.fx).
