CANopen is a message-oriented multi-master protocol for quick serial data exchange.In this example, we show the connection of two sample CANopen devices to the SIMATIC S7.
The example convers:
CANopen basics
Handling of the different engineering tools.
Creation of a simple STEP 7 program to control the CANopen devices.
The control program in each SIMATIC S7 CPU includes the following functions:
Cyclically read/write the CANopen process image
Adjust the byte order between SIMATIC S7 and the CANopen world
Acyclically access CANopen devices

PN/CAN LINK – Configuring the "CANopen manager" and "CANopen slave" operating

This application example shows two PN/CAN LINKs connected to a SIMATIC S7 controller via PROFINET.
The following is described for the PN/CAN LINKs:

Basic configuration for "CANopen slave" by exporting an EDS file
Basic configuration for "CANopen manager" via "CANopen node universal" and the associated PDO definition
Handling of the control bit for sending and receiving data
The "CANopen_Manager_Slave.zip" file contains the application example for TIA Portal V14.
The PN/CAN LINKs are connected via PROFINET to the SIMATIC S7 control system. The PN/CAN LINKs are configured as follows:
PN/CAN LINK 1 - in "CANopen Manager" mode
PN/CAN LINK 2 - in "CANopen Slave" mode |
