For BRAUMAT/SISTAR system, it requires reliable power supply for guaranteeing the productivity, especially for many PC-based automation solutions, such as Open Controller, a power failure will cause serious damage to the plant - losing the batch order information, sequences are disordered, control modules activation are missing.
The backing up of operating data is necessary for such a purpose. The SITOP UPS offers maximum reliability in this respect, and protection of 24V loads from longer power failures, so that recipe system of BRAUMAT/SISTAR works smoothly.

This application example will explain 2 different ways about how to deploy SITOP UPS500S in BRAUMAT/SISTAR system while using SIMATIC CPU1515SP PC2 as program controller.

SIMATIC TIA Portal provides SHUT_DOWN instruction to shut down target the PC-based automation system and restart the S7 software controller CPU150xS or the operation system (Windows or Linux) on the PC-based system. By choosing the right work mode of SHUT_DOWN instruction, users can use the output signal states of SITOP UPS to trigger the SHUT_DOWN instruction to save the retentive data in case of power failure.

Via this connection, SITOP Manager, Gateway-Service and Shutdown Service provide offline and online commissioning, engineering, and monitoring of existing and future OPC UA enabled SITOP devices. Of course, also web based user interface to manage the shutdown sequence, etc. With the help of these applications, users are able to save the process runtime values, backup the project and safely shutdown the operation system to avoid critical malfunctions caused by power failure.
